۝١
Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad.
7:2:1kitābᵘⁿ(This is) a Book
7:2:2ʾunzilᵃrevealed
7:2:3ʾilaykᵃto you
7:2:4falāso (let) not
7:2:7ṣadrikᵃyour breast
7:2:8ḥarajᵘⁿany uneasiness
7:2:9mminhᵘfrom it
7:2:10litunðirᵃthat you warn
7:2:11bihiwith it,
7:2:12waðikrāand a reminder
7:2:13lilmuʾminīnᵃfor the believers.
۝٢
[This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers.
7:3:1ᵢttabiʕūFollow
7:3:3ʾunzilᵃhas been revealed
7:3:6rrabbikumyour Lord,
7:3:7walāand (do) not
7:3:10dūnihibeside Him
7:3:11ʾawliyāʾᵃany allies.
7:3:12qalīlaⁿLittle
7:3:13mmā(is) what
7:3:14taðakkarūnᵃyou remember.
۝٣
Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember.
7:4:1wakamAnd how many
7:4:3qaryaẗⁱⁿa city
7:4:4ʾahlaknāhāWe destroyed it,
7:4:5fajāʾahāand came to it
7:4:6baʾsunāOur punishment
7:4:7bayātaⁿ(at) night
7:4:9hum(while) they
7:4:10qāʾilūnᵃwere sleeping at noon.
۝٤
And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon.
7:5:1famāThen not
7:5:2kānᵃwas
7:5:3daʕwāhumtheir plea
7:5:4ʾiðwhen
7:5:5jāʾahumcame to them
7:5:6baʾsunāOur punishment
7:5:7ʾillāexcept
7:5:8ʾanthat
7:5:9qālūthey said,
7:5:10ʾinnā"Indeed, we
7:5:12ẓālimīnᵃwrongdoers."
۝٥
And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers!"
7:6:1falanasʾalannᵃThen surely We will question
7:6:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose (to) whom
7:6:3ʾursilᵃwere sent
7:6:4ʾilayhimto them (Messengers),
7:6:5walanasʾalannᵃand surely We will question
7:6:6ₐlmursalīnᵃthe Messengers.
۝٦
Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers.
7:7:1falanaquṣṣannᵃThen surely We will narrate
7:7:2ʕalayhimto them
7:7:3biʕilmⁱⁿwith knowledge,
7:7:4wamāand not
7:7:5kunnāwere We
7:7:6ġāʾibīnᵃabsent.
۝٧
Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent.
7:8:1waₐlwaznᵘAnd the weighing
7:8:2yawmaʾiðⁱⁿthat day
7:8:3ₐlḥaqqᵘ(will be) the truth.
7:8:4famanSo whose -
7:8:5θaqulat(will be) heavy
7:8:6mawāzīnuhuhis scales,
7:8:7faʾulāʾikᵃthen those
7:8:8humᵘ[they]
7:8:9ₐlmufliḥūnᵃ(will be) the successful ones.
۝٨
And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful.
7:9:1wamanAnd (for) those
7:9:2ḫaffat(will be) light
7:9:3mawāzīnuhuhis scales,
7:9:4faʾulāʾikᵃso those
7:9:5ₐllaðīnᵃ(will be) the ones who
7:9:7ʾanfusahumthemselves
7:9:8bimābecause
7:9:9kānūthey were
7:9:10biʾāyātināto Our Verses
7:9:11yaẓlimūnᵃ(doing) injustice.
۝٩
And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses.
7:10:1walaqadAnd certainly
7:10:2makkannākumWe established you
7:10:4ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth
7:10:5wajaʕalnāand We made
7:10:6lakumfor you
7:10:8maʕāyišᵃlivelihood.
7:10:9qalīlaⁿLittle
7:10:10mmā(is) what
7:10:11taškurūnᵃyou (are) grateful.
۝١٠
And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful.
7:11:1walaqadAnd certainly
7:11:2ḫalaqnākumWe created you
7:11:3θummᵃthen
7:11:4ṣawwarnākumWe fashioned you.
7:11:5θummᵃThen
7:11:7lilmalāʾikaẗⁱto the Angels,
7:11:8ᵤsjudū"Prostrate
7:11:9liʾādamᵃto Adam,"
7:11:10fasajadūSo they prostrated,
7:11:12ʾiblīsᵃIblis.
7:11:16ₐlssājidīnᵃthose who prostrated.
۝١١
And We have certainly created you, [O Mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was not of those who prostrated.
7:12:1qālᵃ(Allah) said,
7:12:2"What
7:12:3manaʕakᵃprevented you
7:12:4ʾallāthat not
7:12:5tasjudᵃyou prostrate
7:12:7ʾamartukᵃI commanded you?"
7:12:8qālᵃ(Shaitaan) said,
7:12:10ḫayrᵘⁿbetter
7:12:11mminhᵘthan him.
7:12:12ḫalaqtanīYou created me
7:12:14nnārⁱⁿfire
7:12:15waḫalaqtahuand You created him
7:12:17ṭīnⁱⁿclay."
۝١٢
[Allah] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay."
7:13:1qālᵃ(Allah) said,
7:13:2faᵢhbiṭ"Then go down
7:13:3minhāfrom it,
7:13:4famāfor not
7:13:5yakūnᵘit is
7:13:6lakᵃfor you
7:13:7ʾanthat
7:13:8tatakabbarᵃyou be arrogant
7:13:9fīhāin it.
7:13:10faᵤḫrujSo get out;
7:13:11ʾinnakᵃindeed, you
7:13:12minᵃ(are) of
7:13:13ₐlṣṣāġirīnᵃthe disgraced ones."
۝١٣
[Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased.
7:14:1qālᵃ(Shaitaan) said,
7:14:2ʾanẓirnī"Give me respite
7:14:4yawmⁱ(the) Day
7:14:5yubʕaθūnᵃthey are raised up."
۝١٤
[Satan] said, "Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected."
7:15:1qālᵃ(Allah) said,
7:15:2ʾinnakᵃ"Indeed, you
7:15:3minᵃ(are) of
7:15:4ₐlmunẓarīnᵃthe ones given respite."
۝١٥
[Allah] said, "Indeed, you are of those reprieved."
7:16:1qālᵃ(Shaitaan) said,
7:16:2fabimā"Because
7:16:3ʾaġwaytanīYou have sent me astray,
7:16:4laʾaqʕudannᵃsurely I will sit
7:16:5lahumfor them
7:16:6ṣirāṭakᵃ(on) Your path,
7:16:7ₐlmustaqīmᵃthe straight.
۝١٦
[Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path.
7:17:1θummᵃThen
7:17:2laʾātiyannahumsurely, I will come to them
7:17:3mminᵐfrom
7:17:4baynⁱbefore
7:17:6waminand from
7:17:7ḫalfihimbehind them
7:17:8waʕanand from
7:17:9ʾaymānihimtheir right
7:17:10waʕanand from
7:17:11šamāʾilihimtheir left,
7:17:12walāand not
7:17:13tajidᵘYou (will) find
7:17:14ʾakθarahummost of them
7:17:15šākirīnᵃgrateful."
۝١٧
Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You]."
7:18:1qālᵃ(Allah) said,
7:18:2ᵤḫruj"Get out
7:18:4maðʾūmaⁿdisgraced
7:18:5mmadḥūraⁿand expelled.
7:18:6llamanCertainly, whoever
7:18:7tabiʕakᵃfollows you
7:18:8minhumamong them,
7:18:9laʾamlaʾannᵃsurely, I will fill
7:18:11minkumwith you
۝١٨
[Allah] said, "Get out of Paradise, reproached and expelled. Whoever follows you among them - I will surely fill Hell with you, all together."
7:19:1wayāʾādamᵘAnd O Adam!
7:19:3ʾantᵃyou
7:19:4wazawjukᵃand your wife,
7:19:5ₐljannaẗᵃ(in) the Garden,
7:19:6fakulāand you both eat
7:19:8ḥayθᵘwherever
7:19:9šiʾtumāyou both wish,
7:19:10walābut (do) not
7:19:11taqrabāapproach [both of you]
7:19:12hāðihⁱthis
7:19:13ₐlššajaraẗᵃ[the] tree
7:19:14fatakūnālest you both be
7:19:15minᵃamong
7:19:16ₐlẓẓālimīnᵃthe wrongdoers."
۝١٩
And "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers."
7:20:1fawaswasᵃThen whispered
7:20:2lahumāto both of them
7:20:3ₐlššayṭānᵘthe Shaitaan
7:20:4liyubdīᵃto make apparent
7:20:5lahumāto both of them
7:20:7wurīᵃwas concealed
7:20:8ʕanhumāfrom both of them
7:20:10sawʾātihimātheir shame.
7:20:11waqālᵃAnd he said,
7:20:12"(Did) not
7:20:13nahākumāforbid you both
7:20:14rabbukumāyour Lord
7:20:16hāðihⁱthis
7:20:17ₐlššajaraẗⁱ[the] tree
7:20:20takūnāyou two become
7:20:23takūnāyou two become
7:20:25ₐlḫālidīnᵃthe immortals."
۝٢٠
But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal."
7:21:1waqāsamahumāAnd he swore (to) both of them,
7:21:2ʾinnī"Indeed, I am
7:21:3lakumāto both of you
7:21:4laminᵃamong
7:21:5ₐlnnāṣiḥīnᵃthe sincere advisors."
۝٢١
And he swore [by Allah] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors."
7:22:1fadallāhumāSo he made both of them fall
7:22:2biġurūrⁱⁿby deception.
7:22:3falammāThen when
7:22:4ðāqāthey both tasted
7:22:5ₐlššajaraẗᵃthe tree,
7:22:6badatbecame apparent
7:22:7lahumāto both of them
7:22:8sawʾātuhumātheir shame,
7:22:9waṭafiqāand they began
7:22:10yaḫṣifānⁱ(to) fasten
7:22:11ʕalayhimāover themselves
7:22:13waraqⁱ(the) leaves
7:22:14ₐljannaẗⁱ(of) the Garden.
7:22:15wanādāhumāAnd called them both
7:22:16rabbuhumātheir Lord,
7:22:17ʾalam"Did not
7:22:18ʾanhakumāI forbid you both
7:22:21ₐlššajaraẗⁱ[the] tree
7:22:22waʾaquland [I] say
7:22:23llakumāto both of you,
7:22:24ʾinnᵃthat
7:22:25ₐlššayṭānᵃ[the] Shaitaan
7:22:26lakumāto both of you
7:22:27ʕaduwwᵘⁿ(is) an enemy,
7:22:28mmubīnᵘⁿopen?"
۝٢٢
So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy?"
7:23:1qālāBoth of them said,
7:23:2rabbanā"Our Lord
7:23:3ẓalamnāwe have wronged
7:23:4ʾanfusanāourselves,
7:23:5waʾinand if
7:23:7taġfirYou forgive
7:23:8lanā[for] us
7:23:9watarḥamnāand have mercy (on) us,
7:23:10lanakūnannᵃsurely, we will be
7:23:11minᵃamong
7:23:12ₐlḫāsirīnᵃthe losers."
۝٢٣
They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers."
7:24:1qālᵃ(Allah) said,
7:24:2ᵢhbiṭū"Get down
7:24:3baʕḍukumsome of you
7:24:4libaʕḍⁱⁿto some others
7:24:5ʕaduwwᵘⁿ(as) enemy.
7:24:6walakumAnd for you
7:24:8ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth
7:24:9mustaqarrᵘⁿ(is) a dwelling place
7:24:10wamatāʕᵘⁿand livelihood
7:24:12ḥīnⁱⁿa time."
۝٢٤
[Allah] said, "Descend, being to one another enemies. And for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment for a time."
7:25:1qālᵃHe said,
7:25:2fīhā"In it
7:25:3taḥyawnᵃyou will live
7:25:4wafīhāand in it
7:25:5tamūtūnᵃyou will die
7:25:6waminhāand from it
7:25:7tuḫrajūnᵃyou will be brought forth."
۝٢٥
He said, "Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth."
7:26:1yābanīO Children
7:26:2ʾādamᵃ(of) Adam!
7:26:4ʾanzalnāWe have sent down
7:26:6libāsaⁿclothing,
7:26:7yuwārīit covers
7:26:8sawʾātikumyour shame
7:26:9warīšaⁿand (as) an adornment.
7:26:10walibāsᵘBut the clothing
7:26:11ₐlttaqwā(of) [the] righteousness -
7:26:12ðālikᵃthat
7:26:13ḫayrᵘⁿ(is) best.
7:26:14ðālikᵃThat
7:26:15min(is) from
7:26:16ʾāyātⁱ(the) Signs
7:26:17ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
7:26:18laʕallahumso that they may
7:26:19yaððakkarūnᵃremember.
۝٢٦
O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember.
7:27:1yābanīO Children
7:27:2ʾādamᵃ(of) Adam!
7:27:3(Let) not
7:27:4yaftinannakumᵘtempt you
7:27:5ₐlššayṭānᵘ[the] Shaitaan
7:27:7ʾaḫrajᵃhe drove out
7:27:8ʾabawaykumyour parents
7:27:9mminᵃfrom
7:27:10ₐljannaẗⁱParadise,
7:27:11yanziʕᵘstripping
7:27:12ʕanhumāfrom both of them
7:27:13libāsahumātheir clothing
7:27:14liyuriyahumāto show both of them
7:27:15sawʾātihimātheir shame.
7:27:16ʾinnahuIndeed, he
7:27:17yarākumsees you -
7:27:19waqabīluhuand his tribe
7:27:21ḥayθᵘwhere
7:27:23tarawnahumyou see them.
7:27:24ʾinnāIndeed,
7:27:25jaʕalnāWe have made
7:27:26ₐlššayāṭīnᵃthe devils
7:27:27ʾawliyāʾᵃfriends
7:27:28lillaðīnᵃof those who
7:27:29(do) not
7:27:30yuʾminūnᵃbelieve.
۝٢٧
O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe.
7:28:1waʾiðāAnd when
7:28:3fāḥišaẗᵃⁿimmorality
7:28:4qālūthey say,
7:28:5wajadnā"We found
7:28:7ʾābāʾanāour forefathers
7:28:8waₐllahᵘand Allah
7:28:9ʾamaranā(has) ordered us
7:28:10bihāof it."
7:28:12ʾinnᵃ"Indeed,
7:28:13ₐllahᵃAllah
7:28:14(does) not
7:28:16biₐlfaḥšāʾⁱimmorality.
7:28:17ʾataqūlūnᵃDo you say
7:28:19ₐllahⁱAllah
7:28:22taʕlamūnᵃyou know?"
۝٢٨
And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it." Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. Do you say about Allah that which you do not know?"
7:29:2ʾamarᵃ"(Has been) ordered
7:29:3rabbī(by) my Lord,
7:29:4biₐlqisṭⁱjustice
7:29:6wujūhakumyour faces
7:29:8kullⁱevery
7:29:9masjidⁱⁿmasjid
7:29:10waᵤdʕūhᵘand invoke Him
7:29:11muḫliṣīnᵃ(being) sincere
7:29:12lahᵘto Him
7:29:13ₐlddīnᵃ(in) the religion.
7:29:15badaʾakumHe originated you
7:29:16taʕūdūnᵃ(so) will you return."
۝٢٩
Say, [O Muhammad], "My Lord has ordered justice and that you maintain yourselves [in worship of Him] at every place [or time] of prostration, and invoke Him, sincere to Him in religion." Just as He originated you, you will return [to life] -
7:30:1farīqaⁿA group
7:30:2hadāHe guided
7:30:3wafarīqaⁿand a group
7:30:4ḥaqqᵃdeserved -
7:30:5ʕalayhimᵘ[on] they
7:30:6ₐlḍḍalālaẗᵘthe astraying.
7:30:7ʾinnahumᵘIndeed, they
7:30:9ₐlššayāṭīnᵃthe devils
7:30:10ʾawliyāʾᵃ(as) allies
7:30:12dūnⁱbesides
7:30:13ₐllahⁱAllah
7:30:14wayaḥsabūnᵃwhile they think
7:30:15ʾannahumthat they
7:30:16mmuhtadūnᵃ(are the) guided-ones.
۝٣٠
A group [of you] He guided, and a group deserved [to be in] error. Indeed, they had taken the devils as allies instead of Allah while they thought that they were guided.
