بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
69:1:1 ₐlḥāqqaẗᵘ The Inevitable Reality! ١
The Inevitable Reality -
69:2:2 ₐlḥāqqaẗᵘ (is) the Inevitable Reality? ٢
What is the Inevitable Reality?
69:3:2 ʾadrākᵃ will make you know 69:3:4 ₐlḥāqqaẗᵘ (is) the Inevitable Reality? ٣
And what can make you know what is the Inevitable Reality?
69:4:4 biₐlqāriʕaẗⁱ the Striking Calamity. ٤
Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity.
69:5:3 faʾuhlikū they were destroyed 69:5:4 biₐlṭṭāġiyaẗⁱ by the overpowering (blast). ٥
So as for Thamud, they were destroyed by the overpowering [blast].
69:6:3 faʾuhlikū they were destroyed ٦
And as for 'Aad, they were destroyed by a screaming, violent wind
69:7:1 saḫḫarahā Which He imposed ٧
Which Allah imposed upon them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so you would see the people therein fallen as if they were hollow trunks of palm trees.
Then do you see of them any remains?
69:9:5 waₐlmuʾtafikātᵘ and the overturned cities ٩
And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin.
69:10:4 faʾaḫaðahum so He seized them ١٠
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, so He seized them with a seizure exceeding [in severity].
69:11:7 ₐljāriyaẗⁱ the sailing (ship). ١١
Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship
69:12:1 linajʕalahā That We might make it 69:12:4 wataʕiyahā and would be conscious of it ١٢
That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it.
Then when the Horn is blown with one blast
And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow -
69:15:1 fayawmaʾiðⁱⁿ Then (on) that Day ١٥
Then on that Day, the Resurrection will occur,
And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm.
And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them].
69:18:2 tuʕraḍūnᵃ you will be exhibited, ١٨
That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed.
So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record!
Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account."
So he will be in a pleasant life -
69:23:1 quṭūfuhā Its clusters of fruits ٢٣
Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near.
69:24:5 ʾaslaftum you sent before you ٢٤
[They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past."
But as for he who is given his record in his left hand, he will say, "Oh, I wish I had not been given my record
And had not known what is my account.
I wish my death had been the decisive one.
My wealth has not availed me.
Gone from me is my authority."
[Allah will say], "Seize him and shackle him.
Then into Hellfire drive him.
Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him."
Indeed, he did not used to believe in Allah, the Most Great,
Nor did he encourage the feeding of the poor.
So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend
69:36:5 ġislīnⁱⁿ (the) discharge of wounds, ٣٦
Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds;
None will eat it except the sinners.
So I swear by what you see
[That] indeed, the Qur'an is the word of a noble Messenger.
And it is not the word of a poet; little do you believe.
Nor the word of a soothsayer; little do you remember.
69:43:1 tanzīlᵘⁿ (It is) a revelation ٤٣
[It is] a revelation from the Lord of the worlds.
69:44:2 taqawwalᵃ he (had) fabricated ٤٤
And if Muhammad had made up about Us some [false] sayings,
69:45:1 laʾaḫaðnā Certainly We (would) have seized 69:45:3 biₐlyamīnⁱ by the right hand; ٤٥
We would have seized him by the right hand;
69:46:2 laqaṭaʕnā certainly We (would) have cut off ٤٦
Then We would have cut from him the aorta.
69:47:6 ḥājizīnᵃ (who could) prevent (it). ٤٧
And there is no one of you who could prevent [Us] from him.
69:48:2 lataðkiraẗᵘⁿ (is) surely a reminder 69:48:3 llilmuttaqīnᵃ for the Allah-fearing. ٤٨
And indeed, the Qur'an is a reminder for the righteous.
And indeed, We know that among you are deniers.
69:50:2 laḥasraẗᵘⁿ (is) surely a regret ٥٠
And indeed, it will be [a cause of] regret upon the disbelievers.
69:51:1 waʾinnahu And indeed, it (is) ٥١
And indeed, it is the truth of certainty.
So exalt the name of your Lord, the Most Great.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
70:1:3 biʕaðābⁱⁿ about a punishment ١
A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen
70:2:1 llilkāfirīnᵃ To the disbelievers, ٢
To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer.
70:3:4 ₐlmaʕārijⁱ (of) the ways of ascent. ٣
[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent.
The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years.
So be patient with gracious patience.
Indeed, they see it [as] distant,
70:8:4 kaₐlmuhlⁱ like molten copper, ٨
On the Day the sky will be like murky oil,
And the mountains will be like wool,
And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend,
70:11:1 yubaṣṣarūnahum They will be made to see each other. 70:11:5 yaftadī he (could be) ransomed ١١
They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children
And his wife and his brother
70:13:1 wafaṣīlatihⁱ And his nearest kindred ١٣
And his nearest kindred who shelter him
And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him.
No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell],
70:16:2 llilššawā of the skin of the head, ١٦
A remover of exteriors.
It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]
And collected [wealth] and hoarded.
