19:22:1faḥamalathᵘSo she conceived him,
19:22:2faᵢntabaðatand she withdrew
19:22:3bihiwith him
19:22:4makānaⁿ(to) a place
19:22:5qaṣiyyaⁿremote.
۝٢٢
So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place.
19:23:1faʾajāʾahāThen drove her
19:23:2ₐlmaḫāḍᵘthe pains of childbirth
19:23:4jiðʕⁱ(the) trunk
19:23:5ₐlnnaḫlaẗⁱ(of) the date-palm.
19:23:6qālatShe said,
19:23:7yālaytanī"O! I wish
19:23:8mittᵘI (had) died
19:23:9qablᵃbefore
19:23:11wakuntᵘand I was
19:23:12nasyaⁿ(in) oblivion,
19:23:13mmansiyyaⁿforgotten."
۝٢٣
And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten."
19:24:1fanādāhāSo cried to her
19:24:3taḥtihābeneath her,
19:24:4ʾallā"That (do) not
19:24:6qadverily,
19:24:7jaʕalᵃ(has) placed
19:24:8rabbukⁱyour Lord
19:24:9taḥtakⁱbeneath you,
19:24:10sariyyaⁿa stream.
۝٢٤
But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.
19:25:1wahuzzīAnd shake
19:25:2ʾilaykⁱtowards you
19:25:3bijiðʕⁱ(the) trunk
19:25:4ₐlnnaḫlaẗⁱ(of) the date-palm,
19:25:5tusāqiṭit will drop
19:25:6ʕalaykⁱupon you
19:25:7ruṭabaⁿfresh dates
۝٢٥
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
19:26:2waᵢšrabīand drink
19:26:3waqarrīand cool
19:26:4ʕaynaⁿ(your) eyes.
19:26:6tarayinnᵃyou see
19:26:7minᵃfrom
19:26:8ₐlbašarⁱhuman being
19:26:9ʾaḥadaⁿanyone
19:26:11ʾinnī"Indeed, I
19:26:12naðartᵘ[I] have vowed
19:26:13lilrraḥmānⁱto the Most Gracious
19:26:14ṣawmaⁿa fast,
19:26:16ʾukallimᵃI will speak
19:26:18ʾinsiyyaⁿ(to any) human being."
۝٢٦
So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man.' "
19:27:1faʾatatThen she came
19:27:2bihiwith him
19:27:3qawmahā(to) her people,
19:27:4taḥmiluhucarrying him.
19:27:5qālūThey said,
19:27:6yāmaryamᵘ"O Maryam!
19:27:7laqadCertainly,
19:27:8jiʾtⁱyou (have) brought
19:27:9šayʾaⁿan amazing thing.
۝٢٧
Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented.
19:28:1yāʾuḫtᵃO sister
19:28:2hārūnᵃ(of) Harun!
19:28:5ʾabūkⁱyour father
19:28:6ᵢmraʾᵃan evil man,
19:28:8wamāand not
19:28:10ʾummukⁱyour mother
19:28:11baġiyyaⁿunchaste."
۝٢٨
O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste."
19:29:1faʾašāratThen she pointed
19:29:2ʾilayhⁱto him.
19:29:3qālūThey said,
19:29:5nukallimᵘ(can) we speak
19:29:6man(to one) who
19:29:9ₐlmahdⁱthe cradle,
19:29:10ṣabiyyaⁿa child?"
۝٢٩
So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child?"
19:30:1qālᵃHe said,
19:30:2ʾinnī"Indeed, I am
19:30:3ʕabdᵘa slave
19:30:4ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah.
19:30:5ʾātānīᵃHe gave me
19:30:6ₐlkitābᵃthe Scripture
19:30:7wajaʕalanīand made me
19:30:8nabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٣٠
[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet.
19:31:1wajaʕalanīAnd He (has) made me
19:31:2mubārakaⁿblessed
19:31:3ʾaynᵃwherever
19:31:6waʾawṣānīand has enjoined (on) me
19:31:7biₐlṣṣalawẗⁱ[of] the prayer
19:31:8waₐlzzakawẗⁱand zakah,
19:31:9as long as I am
19:31:11ḥayyaⁿalive
۝٣١
And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive
19:32:1wabarrᵃⁿᵐāAnd dutiful
19:32:2biwālidatīto my mother,
19:32:4yajʕalnīHe (has) made me
19:32:5jabbāraⁿinsolent,
19:32:6šaqiyyaⁿunblessed.
۝٣٢
And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant.
19:33:1waₐlssalāmᵘAnd peace (be)
19:33:2ʕalayyᵃon me
19:33:3yawmᵃ(the) day
19:33:4wulidttᵘI was born
19:33:5wayawmᵃand (the) day
19:33:6ʾamūtᵘI will die
19:33:7wayawmᵃand (the) Day
19:33:8ʾubʕaθᵘI will be raised
19:33:9ḥayyaⁿalive."
۝٣٣
And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive."
19:34:1ðālikᵃThat
19:34:2ʕīsā(was) Isa,
19:34:3ᵢbnᵘ(the) son
19:34:4maryamᵃ(of) Maryam,
19:34:5qawlᵃa statement
19:34:6ₐlḥaqqⁱ(of) truth
19:34:7ₐllaðīthat which
19:34:8fīhⁱabout it
19:34:9yamtarūnᵃthey dispute.
۝٣٤
That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute.
19:35:2kānᵃ(it) is
19:35:3lillahⁱfor Allah
19:35:5yattaḫiðᵃHe should take
19:35:6minany son.
19:35:8subḥānahuGlory be to Him!
19:35:10qaḍāHe decrees
19:35:11ʾamraⁿa matter,
19:35:12faʾinnamāthen only
19:35:13yaqūlᵘHe says
19:35:16fayakūnᵘand it is.
۝٣٥
It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is.
19:36:1waʾinnᵃ"And indeed,
19:36:2ₐllahᵃAllah
19:36:3rabbī(is) my Lord
19:36:4warabbukumand your Lord,
19:36:5faᵤʕbudūhᵘso worship Him.
19:36:7ṣirāṭᵘⁿ(is) a path
19:36:8mmustaqīmᵘⁿstraight."
۝٣٦
[Jesus said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path."
19:37:1faᵢḫtalafᵃBut differed
19:37:2ₐlʾaḥzābᵘthe sects
19:37:3minᵐfrom among them,
19:37:5fawaylᵘⁿso woe
19:37:6llillaðīnᵃto those who
19:37:7kafarūdisbelieve
19:37:9mmašhadⁱ(the) witnessing
19:37:10yawmⁱⁿ(of) a Day
19:37:11ʕaẓīmⁱⁿgreat.
۝٣٧
Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day.
19:38:1ʾasmiʕHow they will hear!
19:38:3waʾabṣirand how (they will) see!
19:38:4yawmᵃ(the) Day
19:38:5yaʾtūnanāthey will come to Us,
19:38:7ₐlẓẓālimūnᵃthe wrongdoers
19:38:9(are) in
19:38:10ḍalālⁱⁿerror
19:38:11mmubīnⁱⁿclear.
۝٣٨
How [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers today are in clear error.
19:39:1waʾanðirhumAnd warn them
19:39:2yawmᵃ(of the) Day
19:39:3ₐlḥasraẗⁱ(of) the Regret,
19:39:5quḍīᵃhas been decided
19:39:6ₐlʾamrᵘthe matter.
19:39:7wahumAnd they
19:39:8(are) in
19:39:9ġaflaẗⁱⁿheedlessness,
19:39:11(do) not
19:39:12yuʾminūnᵃbelieve.
۝٣٩
And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe.
19:40:1ʾinnāIndeed, We
19:40:2naḥnᵘ[We]
19:40:3nariθᵘ[We] will inherit
19:40:4ₐlʾarḍᵃthe earth
19:40:5wamanand whoever
19:40:6ʕalayhā(is) on it,
19:40:7waʾilaynāand to Us
19:40:8yurjaʕūnᵃthey will be returned.
۝٤٠
Indeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and to Us they will be returned.
19:41:1waᵤðkurAnd mention
19:41:3ₐlkitābⁱthe Book
19:41:4ʾibrāhīmᵃIbrahim.
19:41:5ʾinnahuIndeed, he
19:41:7ṣiddīqaⁿa man of truth,
19:41:8nnabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٤١
And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
19:42:2qālᵃhe said
19:42:3liʾabīhⁱto his father,
19:42:4yāʾabatⁱ"O my father!
19:42:6taʕbudᵘ(do) you worship
19:42:7that which
19:42:10walāand not
19:42:12walāand not
19:42:13yuġnībenefits
19:42:14ʕankᵃ[to] you
19:42:15šayʾaⁿ(in) anything?
۝٤٢
[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all?
19:43:1yāʾabatⁱO my father!
19:43:2ʾinnīIndeed, [I]
19:43:4jāʾanī(has) come to me
19:43:6ₐlʕilmⁱthe knowledge
19:43:9yaʾtikᵃcame to you,
19:43:10faᵢttabiʕnīso follow me;
19:43:11ʾahdikᵃI will guide you
19:43:12ṣirāṭaⁿ(to) the path
۝٤٣
O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path.
19:44:1yāʾabatⁱO my father!
19:44:2(Do) not
19:44:3taʕbudⁱworship
19:44:4ₐlššayṭānᵃthe Shaitaan.
19:44:5ʾinnᵃIndeed,
19:44:6ₐlššayṭānᵃthe Shaitaan
19:44:8lilrraḥmānⁱto the Most Gracious
19:44:9ʕaṣiyyaⁿdisobedient.
۝٤٤
O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient.
19:45:1yāʾabatⁱO my father!
19:45:2ʾinnīIndeed, I
19:45:3ʾaḫāfᵘ[I] fear
19:45:5yamassakᵃwill touch you
19:45:6ʕaðābᵘⁿa punishment
19:45:8ₐlrraḥmānⁱthe Most Gracious,
19:45:9fatakūnᵃso you would be
19:45:10lilššayṭānⁱto the Shaitaan
19:45:11waliyyaⁿa friend."
۝٤٥
O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]."
19:46:1qālᵃHe said,
19:46:2ʾarāġibᵘⁿ"Do you hate
19:46:4ʕan(from)
19:46:5ʾālihatīmy gods,
19:46:6yāʾibrāhīmᵘO Ibrahim?
19:46:7laʾinSurely, if
19:46:9tantahⁱyou desist
19:46:10laʾarjumannakᵃsurely, I will stone you,
19:46:11waᵤhjurnīso leave me
19:46:12maliyyaⁿ(for) a prolonged time."
۝٤٦
[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time."
19:47:1qālᵃHe said,
19:47:2salāmᵘⁿ"Peace (be)
19:47:3ʕalaykᵃon you.
19:47:4saʾastaġfirᵘI will ask forgiveness
19:47:5lakᵃfor you
19:47:6rabbī(from) my Lord.
19:47:7ʾinnahuIndeed, He
19:47:10ḥafiyyaⁿEver Gracious.
۝٤٧
[Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me.
19:48:1waʾaʕtazilukumAnd I will leave you
19:48:2wamāand what
19:48:3tadʕūnᵃyou invoke
19:48:4minbesides
19:48:6ₐllahⁱAllah
19:48:7waʾadʕūand I will invoke
19:48:8rabbīmy Lord.
19:48:10ʾallāthat not
19:48:11ʾakūnᵃI will be
19:48:12biduʕāʾⁱin invocation
19:48:13rabbī(to) my Lord
19:48:14šaqiyyaⁿunblessed."
۝٤٨
And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy."
19:49:2ᵢʕtazalahumhe left them
19:49:3wamāand what
19:49:4yaʕbudūnᵃthey worshipped
19:49:5minbesides Allah,
19:49:8wahabnā[and] We bestowed
19:49:10ʾisḥāqᵃIsaac
19:49:11wayaʕqūbᵃand Yaqub,
19:49:12wakullaⁿand each (of them)
19:49:14nabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٤٩
So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet.
19:50:1wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
19:50:2lahumto them
19:50:4rraḥmatināOur Mercy,
19:50:5wajaʕalnāand We made
19:50:6lahumfor them
19:50:7lisānᵃa truthful mention,
19:50:9ʕaliyyaⁿhigh.
۝٥٠
And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor.
19:51:1waᵤðkurAnd mention
19:51:3ₐlkitābⁱthe Book,
19:51:5ʾinnahuIndeed, he
19:51:7muḫlaṣaⁿchosen
19:51:8wakānᵃand was
19:51:9rasūlaⁿa Messenger,
19:51:10nnabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٥١
And mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet.
19:52:1wanādaynāhᵘAnd We called him
19:52:3jānibⁱ(the) side
19:52:4ₐlṭṭūrⁱ(of) the Mount
19:52:5ₐlʾaymanⁱthe right,
19:52:6waqarrabnāhᵘand brought him near
19:52:7najiyyaⁿ(for) conversation.
۝٥٢
And We called him from the side of the mount at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him].
19:53:1wawahabnāAnd We bestowed
19:53:2lahu[to] him
19:53:4rraḥmatināOur Mercy
19:53:5ʾaḫāhᵘhis brother
19:53:6hārūnᵃHarun,
19:53:7nabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٥٣
And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet.
19:54:1waᵤðkurAnd mention
19:54:3ₐlkitābⁱthe Book,
19:54:4ʾismāʕīlᵃIshmael.
19:54:5ʾinnahuIndeed, he
19:54:7ṣādiqᵃtrue
19:54:8ₐlwaʕdⁱ(to his) promise
19:54:9wakānᵃand was
19:54:10rasūlaⁿa Messenger -
19:54:11nnabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٥٤
And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet.
19:55:1wakānᵃAnd he used
19:55:2yaʾmurᵘ(to) enjoin
19:55:3ʾahlahu(on) his people
19:55:4biₐlṣṣalawẗⁱthe prayer
19:55:5waₐlzzakawẗⁱand zakah
19:55:6wakānᵃand was
19:55:7ʕindᵃnear
19:55:9marḍiyyaⁿpleasing.
۝٥٥
And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakah and was to his Lord pleasing.
19:56:1waᵤðkurAnd mention
19:56:3ₐlkitābⁱthe Book,
19:56:4ʾidrīsᵃIdris.
19:56:5ʾinnahuIndeed, he
19:56:7ṣiddīqaⁿtruthful,
19:56:8nnabiyyaⁿa Prophet.
۝٥٦
And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
19:57:1warafaʕnāhᵘAnd We raised him
19:57:2makānaⁿ(to) a position
19:57:3ʕaliyyaⁿhigh.
۝٥٧
And We raised him to a high station.
19:58:2ₐllaðīnᵃ(were) the ones whom
19:58:3ʾanʕamᵃAllah bestowed favor
19:58:5ʕalayhimupon them
19:58:6mminᵃfrom (among)
19:58:7ₐlnnabiyyinᵃthe Prophets,
19:58:9ðurriyyaẗⁱ(the) offspring
19:58:10ʾādamᵃ(of) Adam,
19:58:11wamimmanand of those
19:58:12ḥamalnāWe carried
19:58:13maʕᵃwith
19:58:14nūḥⁱⁿNuh
19:58:16ðurriyyaẗⁱ(the) offspring
19:58:17ʾibrāhīmᵃ(of) Ibrahim
19:58:18waʾisrāʾīlᵃand Israel
19:58:19wamimmanand of (those) whom
19:58:21waᵢjtabaynāand We chose.
19:58:23tutlāwere recited
19:58:25ʾāyātᵘ(the) Verses
19:58:26ₐlrraḥmānⁱ(of) the Most Gracious,
19:58:27ḫarrūthey fell
19:58:28sujjadaⁿprostrating
19:58:29wabukiyyaⁿand weeping.
۝٥٨
Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping.
