3:113:1laysūThey are not
3:113:2sawāʾᵃⁿ(the) same;
3:113:4ʾahlⁱ(the) People
3:113:5ₐlkitābⁱ(of) the Book
3:113:6ʾummaẗᵘⁿ(is) a community
3:113:7qāʾimaẗᵘⁿstanding
3:113:8yatlūnᵃ(and) reciting
3:113:9ʾāyātⁱ(the) Verses
3:113:10ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
3:113:11ʾānāʾᵃ(in the) hours
3:113:12ₐllaylⁱ(of) the night
3:113:14yasjudūnᵃprostrate.
۝١١٣
They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer].
3:114:1yuʾminūnᵃThey believe
3:114:2biₐllahⁱin Allah
3:114:3waₐlyawmⁱand the Day
3:114:4ₐlʾāḫirⁱthe Last
3:114:5wayaʾmurūnᵃand they enjoin
3:114:6biₐlmaʕrūfⁱ[with] the right
3:114:7wayanhawnᵃand forbid
3:114:8ʕanⁱ[from]
3:114:9ₐlmunkarⁱthe wrong
3:114:10wayusāriʕūnᵃand they hasten
3:114:12ₐlḫayrātⁱthe good deeds.
3:114:13waʾulāʾikᵃAnd those
3:114:14minᵃ(are) from
3:114:15ₐlṣṣāliḥīnᵃthe righteous.
۝١١٤
They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and hasten to good deeds. And those are among the righteous.
3:115:1wamāAnd whatever
3:115:4ḫayrⁱⁿa good,
3:115:5falanthen never
3:115:6yukfarūhᵘwill they be denied it.
3:115:7waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
3:115:8ʕalīmᵘⁿᵐ(is) All-Knowing
3:115:9biₐlmuttaqīnᵃof the God-fearing.
۝١١٥
And whatever good they do - never will it be removed from them. And Allah is Knowing of the righteous.
3:116:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
3:116:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
3:116:3kafarūdisbelieved,
3:116:5tuġnīᵃwill avail
3:116:6ʕanhum[for] them
3:116:7ʾamwāluhumtheir wealth
3:116:9ʾawlāduhumtheir children
3:116:10mminᵃagainst
3:116:11ₐllahⁱAllah
3:116:12šayʾaⁿanything,
3:116:13waʾulāʾikᵃand those
3:116:14ʾaṣḥābᵘ(are the) companions
3:116:15ₐlnnārⁱ(of) the Fire,
3:116:18ḫālidūnᵃ(will) abide forever.
۝١١٦
Indeed, those who disbelieve - never will their wealth or their children avail them against Allah at all, and those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally.
3:117:1maθalᵘExample
3:117:2(of) what
3:117:3yunfiqūnᵃthey spend
3:117:5hāðihⁱthis
3:117:6ₐlḥayawẗⁱ[the] life
3:117:7ₐlddunyā(of) the world
3:117:8kamaθalⁱ(is) like (the) example
3:117:9rīḥⁱⁿ(of) a wind
3:117:11ṣirrᵘⁿ(is) frost,
3:117:12ʾaṣābatit struck
3:117:13ḥarθᵃ(the) harvest
3:117:14qawmⁱⁿ(of) a people
3:117:15ẓalamūwho wronged
3:117:16ʾanfusahumthemselves,
3:117:17faʾahlakathᵘthen destroyed it.
3:117:18wamāAnd not
3:117:19ẓalamahumᵘ(has) wronged them
3:117:20ₐllahᵘAllah
3:117:22ʾanfusahumthemselves
3:117:23yaẓlimūnᵃthey wronged.
۝١١٧
The example of what they spend in this worldly life is like that of a wind containing frost which strikes the harvest of a people who have wronged themselves and destroys it. And Allah has not wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
3:118:2ₐllaðīnᵃwho
3:118:3ʾāmanūbelieve[d]!
3:118:4(Do) not
3:118:6biṭānaẗᵃⁿ(as) intimates
3:118:8dūnikumother than yourselves,
3:118:10yaʾlūnakumthey will spare you
3:118:11ḫabālaⁿ(any) ruin.
3:118:14ʕanittumdistresses you.
3:118:16badatⁱ(has become) apparent
3:118:17ₐlbaġḍāʾᵘthe hatred
3:118:19ʾafwāhihimtheir mouths,
3:118:20wamāand what
3:118:21tuḫfīconceals
3:118:22ṣudūruhumtheir breasts
3:118:23ʾakbarᵘ(is) greater.
3:118:24qadCertainly
3:118:25bayyannāWe made clear
3:118:26lakumᵘfor you
3:118:27ₐlʾāyātⁱthe Verses,
3:118:30taʕqilūnᵃ(to use) reason.
۝١١٨
O you who have believed, do not take as intimates those other than yourselves, for they will not spare you [any] ruin. They wish you would have hardship. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater. We have certainly made clear to you the signs, if you will use reason.
3:119:1hāʾantumLo! You are
3:119:3tuḥibbūnahumyou love them
3:119:4walābut not
3:119:5yuḥibbūnakumthey love you
3:119:6watuʾminūnᵃand you believe
3:119:7biₐlkitābⁱin the Book -
3:119:8kullihiall of it.
3:119:9waʾiðāAnd when
3:119:10laqūkumthey meet you
3:119:12ʾāmannā"We believe."
3:119:13waʾiðāAnd when
3:119:14ḫalawthey are alone
3:119:15ʕaḍḍūthey bite
3:119:17ₐlʾanāmilᵃthe finger tips
3:119:18minᵃ(out) of
3:119:19ₐlġayẓⁱ[the] rage.
3:119:22biġayẓikumin your rage.
3:119:23ʾinnᵃIndeed.
3:119:24ₐllahᵃAllah
3:119:25ʕalīmᵘⁿᵐ(is) All-Knowing
3:119:26biðātⁱof what
3:119:27ₐlṣṣudūrⁱ(is in) the breasts."
۝١١٩
Here you are loving them but they are not loving you, while you believe in the Scripture - all of it. And when they meet you, they say, "We believe." But when they are alone, they bite their fingertips at you in rage. Say, "Die in your rage. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of that within the breasts."
3:120:3ḥasanaẗᵘⁿa good,
3:120:4tasuʾhumit grieves them
3:120:5waʾinand if
3:120:6tuṣibkumstrikes you
3:120:7sayyiʾaẗᵘⁿmisfortune,
3:120:8yafraḥūthey rejoice
3:120:10waʾinAnd if
3:120:11taṣbirūyou are patient
3:120:12watattaqūand fear (Allah),
3:120:14yaḍurrukumwill harm you
3:120:16šayʾaⁿ(in) anything.
3:120:17ʾinnᵃIndeed,
3:120:18ₐllahᵃAllah,
3:120:19bimāof what
3:120:20yaʕmalūnᵃthey do
3:120:21muḥīṭᵘⁿ(is) All-Encompassing.
۝١٢٠
If good touches you, it distresses them; but if harm strikes you, they rejoice at it. And if you are patient and fear Allah, their plot will not harm you at all. Indeed, Allah is encompassing of what they do.
3:121:1waʾiðAnd when
3:121:2ġadawtᵃyou left early morning
3:121:4ʾahlikᵃyour household
3:121:5tubawwiʾᵘto post
3:121:6ₐlmuʾminīnᵃthe believers
3:121:7maqāʕidᵃ(to take) positions
3:121:8lilqitālⁱfor the battle.
3:121:9waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
3:121:10samīʕᵘⁿ(is) All-Hearing,
3:121:11ʕalīmᵘⁿAll-Knowing.
۝١٢١
And [remember] when you, [O Muhammad], left your family in the morning to post the believers at their stations for the battle [of Uhud] - and Allah is Hearing and Knowing -
3:122:2hammatinclined
3:122:3ṭṭāʾifatānⁱtwo parties
3:122:4minkumamong you
3:122:6tafšalāthey lost heart,
3:122:7waₐllahᵘbut Allah
3:122:8waliyyuhumā(was) their protector.
3:122:9waʕalāAnd on
3:122:10ₐllahⁱAllah
3:122:11falyatawakkalⁱlet put (their) trust
3:122:12ₐlmuʾminūnᵃthe believers.
۝١٢٢
When two parties among you were about to lose courage, but Allah was their ally; and upon Allah the believers should rely.
3:123:1walaqadAnd certainly
3:123:2naṣarakumᵘhelped you
3:123:3ₐllahᵘAllah
3:123:4bibadrⁱⁿin Badr
3:123:5waʾantumwhile you (were)
3:123:6ʾaðillaẗᵘⁿweak.
3:123:8ₐllahᵃAllah
3:123:9laʕallakumso that you may
3:123:10taškurūnᵃ(be) grateful.
۝١٢٣
And already had Allah given you victory at [the battle of] Badr while you were few in number. Then fear Allah; perhaps you will be grateful.
3:124:2taqūlᵘyou said
3:124:3lilmuʾminīnᵃto the believers,
3:124:4ʾalan"Is it not
3:124:5yakfiyakumenough for you
3:124:7yumiddakumreinforces you
3:124:8rabbukumyour Lord
3:124:9biθalāθaẗⁱwith three
3:124:10ʾālāfⁱⁿthousand[s]
3:124:12ₐlmalāʾikaẗⁱ[the] Angels
3:124:13munzalīnᵃ[the ones] sent down?
۝١٢٤
[Remember] when you said to the believers, "Is it not sufficient for you that your Lord should reinforce you with three thousand angels sent down?
3:125:3taṣbirūyou are patient
3:125:4watattaqūand fear (Allah)
3:125:5wayaʾtūkumand they come upon you
3:125:8hāðā[this]
3:125:9yumdidkumwill reinforce you
3:125:10rabbukumyour Lord
3:125:11biḫamsaẗⁱwith five
3:125:12ʾālāfⁱⁿthousand[s]
3:125:14ₐlmalāʾikaẗⁱ[the] Angels
3:125:15musawwimīnᵃ[the ones] having marks.
۝١٢٥
Yes, if you remain patient and conscious of Allah and the enemy come upon you [attacking] in rage, your Lord will reinforce you with five thousand angels having marks [of distinction]
3:126:1wamāAnd not
3:126:2jaʕalahᵘmade it
3:126:3ₐllahᵘAllah
3:126:4ʾillāexcept
3:126:5bušrā(as) good news
3:126:7walitaṭmaʾinnᵃand to reassure
3:126:8qulūbukumyour hearts
3:126:9bihiwith it.
3:126:10wamāAnd (there is) no
3:126:11ₐlnnaṣrᵘ[the] victory
3:126:14ʕindⁱ[near]
3:126:15ₐllahⁱAllah,
3:126:16ₐlʕazīzⁱthe All-Mighty,
3:126:17ₐlḥakīmⁱthe All-Wise.
۝١٢٦
And Allah made it not except as [a sign of] good tidings for you and to reassure your hearts thereby. And victory is not except from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise -
3:127:1liyaqṭaʕᵃThat He may cut off
3:127:2ṭarafaⁿa part
3:127:4ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
3:127:5kafarūdisbelieved
3:127:7yakbitahumsuppress them
3:127:8fayanqalibūso (that) they turn back
3:127:9ḫāʾibīnᵃdisappointed.
۝١٢٧
That He might cut down a section of the disbelievers or suppress them so that they turn back disappointed.
3:128:2lakᵃfor you
3:128:4ₐlʾamrⁱthe decision
3:128:5šayʾᵘⁿ(of) anything
3:128:6ʾawwhether
3:128:7yatūbᵃHe turns
3:128:10yuʕaððibahumpunishes them
3:128:11faʾinnahumfor indeed, they
3:128:12ẓālimūnᵃ(are) wrongdoers.
۝١٢٨
Not for you, [O Muhammad, but for Allah], is the decision whether He should [cut them down] or forgive them or punish them, for indeed, they are wrongdoers.
3:129:1walillahⁱAnd to Allah (belongs)
3:129:3(is) in
3:129:4ₐlssamāwātⁱthe heavens
3:129:5wamāand what
3:129:6(is) in
3:129:7ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth,
3:129:8yaġfirᵘHe forgives
3:129:9liman[for] whom
3:129:10yašāʾᵘHe wills
3:129:11wayuʕaððibᵘand punishes
3:129:13yašāʾᵘHe wills.
3:129:14waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
3:129:15ġafūrᵘⁿ(is) Oft-Forgiving,
3:129:16rraḥīmᵘⁿMost Merciful.
۝١٢٩
And to Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. He forgives whom He wills and punishes whom He wills. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
3:130:2ₐllaðīnᵃwho
3:130:4(Do) not
3:130:7ʾaḍʕāfaⁿdoubled
3:130:8mmuḍāʕafaẗᵃⁿmultiplied.
3:130:10ₐllahᵃAllah
3:130:11laʕallakumso that you may
3:130:12tufliḥūnᵃ(be) successful.
۝١٣٠
O you who have believed, do not consume usury, doubled and multiplied, but fear Allah that you may be successful.
3:131:2ₐlnnārᵃthe Fire
3:131:4ʾuʕiddatis prepared
3:131:5lilkāfirīnᵃfor the disbelievers.
۝١٣١
And fear the Fire, which has been prepared for the disbelievers.
3:132:1waʾaṭīʕūAnd obey
3:132:2ₐllahᵃAllah
3:132:3waₐlrrasūlᵃand the Messenger
3:132:4laʕallakumso that you may
3:132:5turḥamūnᵃreceive mercy.
۝١٣٢
And obey Allah and the Messenger that you may obtain mercy.
