28:12:1waḥarramnāAnd We had forbidden
28:12:2ʕalayhⁱfor him
28:12:3ₐlmarāḍiʕᵃthe wet nurses
28:12:4minbefore,
28:12:6faqālatso she said,
28:12:7hal"Shall I
28:12:8ʾadullukumdirect you
28:12:10ʾahlⁱ(the) people

28:12:16nāṣiḥūnᵃ(will be) sincere?"
۝١٢
And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?"
28:13:1faradadnāhᵘSo We restored him
28:13:3ʾummihihis mother

28:13:6ʕaynuhāher eye,
28:13:7walāand not

28:13:10ʾannᵃthat

28:13:13ḥaqqᵘⁿ(is) true.
28:13:15ʾakθarahummost of them

۝١٣
So We restored him to his mother that she might be content and not grieve and that she would know that the promise of Allah is true. But most of the people do not know.
28:14:1walammāAnd when
28:14:2balaġᵃhe reached
28:14:3ʾašuddahuhis full strength
28:14:4waᵢstawāand became mature,
28:14:5ʾātaynāhᵘWe bestowed upon him
28:14:6ḥukmaⁿwisdom

28:14:8wakaðālikᵃAnd thus
28:14:9najzīWe reward
28:14:10ₐlmuḥsinīnᵃthe good-doers.
۝١٤
And when he attained his full strength and was [mentally] mature, We bestowed upon him judgement and knowledge. And thus do We reward the doers of good.
28:15:1wadaḫalᵃAnd he entered
28:15:2ₐlmadīnaẗᵃthe city
28:15:4ḥīnⁱa time
28:15:5ġaflaẗⁱⁿ(of) inattention
28:15:7ʾahlihāits people
28:15:8fawajadᵃand found
28:15:9fīhātherein

28:15:21šīʕatihihis party
28:15:22ʕalāagainst
28:15:23ₐllaðīthe one who
28:15:24min(was) from
28:15:25ʕaduwwihihis enemy,
28:15:26fawakazahuso Musa struck him with his fist
28:15:28faqaḍāand killed him.
28:15:30qālᵃHe said,
28:15:31hāðā"This (is)
28:15:33ʕamalⁱ(the) deed
28:15:34ₐlššayṭānⁱ(of) Shaitaan.
28:15:35ʾinnahuIndeed, he
28:15:36ʕaduwwᵘⁿ(is) an enemy -
28:15:37mmuḍillᵘⁿone who misleads
28:15:38mmubīnᵘⁿclearly."
۝١٥
And he entered the city at a time of inattention by its people and found therein two men fighting: one from his faction and one from among his enemy. And the one from his faction called for help to him against the one from his enemy, so Moses struck him and [unintentionally] killed him. [Moses] said, "This is from the work of Satan. Indeed, he is a manifest, misleading enemy."
28:16:1qālᵃHe said,
28:16:2rabbⁱ"My Lord!
28:16:3ʾinnīIndeed, I
28:16:4ẓalamtᵘ[I] have wronged
28:16:5nafsīmy soul,
28:16:6faᵢġfirso forgive
28:16:7[for] me."
28:16:8faġafarᵃThen He forgave
28:16:9lahu[for] him.
28:16:10ʾinnahuIndeed He,
28:16:11huwᵃHe (is)
28:16:12ₐlġafūrᵘthe Oft-Forgiving,
28:16:13ₐlrraḥīmᵘthe Most Merciful.
۝١٦
He said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, so forgive me," and He forgave him. Indeed, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.
28:17:1qālᵃHe said,
28:17:2rabbⁱ"My Lord!
28:17:4ʾanʕamtᵃYou have favored
28:17:5ʕalayyᵃ[on] me,
28:17:7ʾakūnᵃI will be

۝١٧
He said, "My Lord, for the favor You bestowed upon me, I will never be an assistant to the criminals."
28:18:1faʾaṣbaḥᵃIn the morning he was
28:18:3ₐlmadīnaẗⁱthe city
28:18:4ḫāʾifaⁿfearful
28:18:5yataraqqabᵘ(and) was vigilant,
28:18:6faʾiðāwhen behold!
28:18:7ₐllaðīThe one who
28:18:8ᵢstanṣarahusought his help
28:18:9biₐlʾamsⁱthe previous day
28:18:10yastaṣriḫuhucried out to him for help.
28:18:14ʾinnakᵃ"Indeed, you
28:18:15laġawīīᵘⁿ(are) surely a deviator
28:18:16mmubīnᵘⁿclear."
۝١٨
And he became inside the city fearful and anticipating [exposure], when suddenly the one who sought his help the previous day cried out to him [once again]. Moses said to him, "Indeed, you are an evident, [persistent] deviator."
28:19:1falammāThen when
28:19:2ʾan[that]
28:19:3ʾarādᵃhe wanted
28:19:5yabṭišᵃstrike
28:19:6biₐllaðīthe one who
28:19:7huwᵃ[he] (was)
28:19:8ʕaduwwᵘⁿan enemy
28:19:9llahumāto both of them,
28:19:10qālᵃhe said,
28:19:12ʾaturīdᵘDo you intend
28:19:16qataltᵃyou killed
28:19:17nafsᵃⁿᵐāa person
28:19:18biₐlʾamsⁱyesterday?
28:19:20turīdᵘyou want
28:19:23takūnᵃyou become
28:19:24jabbāraⁿa tyrant
28:19:26ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth,
28:19:27wamāand not
28:19:28turīdᵘyou want
28:19:30takūnᵃyou be
28:19:32ₐlmuṣliḥīnᵃthe reformers."
۝١٩
And when he wanted to strike the one who was an enemy to both of them, he said, "O Moses, do you intend to kill me as you killed someone yesterday? You only want to be a tyrant in the land and do not want to be of the amenders."
28:20:1wajāʾᵃAnd came
28:20:2rajulᵘⁿa man
28:20:4ʾaqṣā(the) farthest end
28:20:5ₐlmadīnaẗⁱ(of) the city
28:20:7qālᵃHe said,
28:20:9ʾinnᵃIndeed,
28:20:10ₐlmalaʾᵃthe chiefs
28:20:11yaʾtamirūnᵃare taking counsel
28:20:12bikᵃabout you
28:20:13liyaqtulūkᵃto kill you,
28:20:14faᵤḫrujso leave;
28:20:15ʾinnīindeed, I am
28:20:16lakᵃto you
28:20:18ₐlnnāṣiḥīnᵃthe sincere advisors."
۝٢٠
And a man came from the farthest end of the city, running. He said, "O Moses, indeed the eminent ones are conferring over you [intending] to kill you, so leave [the city]; indeed, I am to you of the sincere advisors."
28:21:1faḫarajᵃSo he left
28:21:3ḫāʾifaⁿfearing,
28:21:4yataraqqabᵘ(and) vigilant.
28:21:5qālᵃHe said,
28:21:6rabbⁱ"My Lord!
28:21:8minᵃfrom
28:21:9ₐlqawmⁱthe people -
28:21:10ₐlẓẓālimīnᵃthe wrongdoers."
۝٢١
So he left it, fearful and anticipating [apprehension]. He said, "My Lord, save me from the wrongdoing people."
28:22:1walammāAnd when
28:22:2tawajjahᵃhe turned his face
28:22:3tilqāʾᵃtowards
28:22:4madyanᵃMadyan,
28:22:5qālᵃhe said,
28:22:6ʕasā"Perhaps
28:22:8ʾan[that]
28:22:9yahdiyanīwill guide me
28:22:10sawāʾᵃ(to the) sound
28:22:11ₐlssabīlⁱway."
۝٢٢
And when he directed himself toward Madyan, he said, "Perhaps my Lord will guide me to the sound way."
28:23:1walammāAnd when
28:23:2waradᵃhe came
28:23:3māʾᵃ(to the) water
28:23:4madyanᵃ(of) Madyan,
28:23:5wajadᵃhe found
28:23:7ʾummaẗᵃⁿa group
28:23:10yasqūnᵃwatering,
28:23:11wawajadᵃand he found
28:23:12minbesides them
28:23:14ᵢmraʾataynⁱtwo women
28:23:15taðūdānⁱkeeping back.
28:23:16qālᵃHe said,
28:23:18ḫaṭbukumā(is the) matter with both of you?"
28:23:19qālatāThey said,
28:23:20"We cannot water
28:23:23yuṣdirᵃtake away
28:23:24ₐlrriʕāʾᵘthe shepherds;
28:23:25waʾabūnāand our father
28:23:26šayḫᵘⁿ(is) a very old man."
۝٢٣
And when he came to the well of Madyan, he found there a crowd of people watering [their flocks], and he found aside from them two women driving back [their flocks]. He said, "What is your circumstance?" They said, "We do not water until the shepherds dispatch [their flocks]; and our father is an old man."
28:24:1fasaqāSo he watered
28:24:2lahumāfor them.
28:24:3θummᵃThen
28:24:4tawallāhe turned back
28:24:6ₐlẓẓillⁱthe shade
28:24:7faqālᵃand said,
28:24:8rabbⁱ"My Lord!
28:24:9ʾinnīIndeed, I am
28:24:10limāof whatever
28:24:11ʾanzaltᵃYou send
28:24:12ʾilayyᵃto me
28:24:14ḫayrⁱⁿgood
28:24:15faqīrᵘⁿ(in) need."
۝٢٤
So he watered [their flocks] for them; then he went back to the shade and said, "My Lord, indeed I am, for whatever good You would send down to me, in need."
28:25:1fajāʾathᵘThen came to him
28:25:2ʾiḥdāhumāone of the two women
28:25:3tamšīwalking
28:25:5ᵢstiḥyāʾⁱⁿshyness.
28:25:6qālatShe said,
28:25:7ʾinnᵃ"Indeed,
28:25:8ʾabīmy father
28:25:9yadʕūkᵃcalls you,
28:25:10liyajziyakᵃthat he may reward you
28:25:11ʾajrᵃ(the) reward
28:25:12(for) what
28:25:13saqaytᵃyou watered
28:25:14lanāfor us."
28:25:16jāʾahuhe came to him
28:25:17waqaṣṣᵃand narrated
28:25:18ʕalayhⁱto him
28:25:19ₐlqaṣaṣᵃthe story,
28:25:20qālᵃhe said,
28:25:21"(Do) not
28:25:23najawtᵃYou have escaped
28:25:25ₐlqawmⁱthe people -
28:25:26ₐlẓẓālimīnᵃthe wrongdoers."
۝٢٥
Then one of the two women came to him walking with shyness. She said, "Indeed, my father invites you that he may reward you for having watered for us." So when he came to him and related to him the story, he said, "Fear not. You have escaped from the wrongdoing people."
28:26:2ʾiḥdāhumāone of them,
28:26:3yāʾabatⁱ"O my father!
28:26:4ᵢstaʾjirhᵘHire him.
28:26:5ʾinnᵃIndeed,

28:26:10ₐlʾamīnᵘthe trustworthy."
۝٢٦
One of the women said, "O my father, hire him. Indeed, the best one you can hire is the strong and the trustworthy."
28:27:1qālᵃHe said,
28:27:2ʾinnī"Indeed, I
28:27:3ʾurīdᵘ[I] wish

28:27:24satajidunīYou will find me,
28:27:26šāʾᵃAllah wills,
28:27:29ₐlṣṣāliḥīnᵃthe righteous."
۝٢٧
He said, "Indeed, I wish to wed you one of these, my two daughters, on [the condition] that you serve me for eight years; but if you complete ten, it will be [as a favor] from you. And I do not wish to put you in difficulty. You will find me, if Allah wills, from among the righteous."
28:28:1qālᵃHe said,
28:28:2ðālikᵃ"That
28:28:3baynī(is) between me
28:28:4wabaynakᵃand between you.
28:28:5ʾayyamāWhichever
28:28:6ₐlʾajalaynⁱ(of) the two terms

۝٢٨
[Moses] said, "That is [established] between me and you. Whichever of the two terms I complete - there is no injustice to me, and Allah, over what we say, is Witness."
