۞
17:70:1walaqadAnd certainly,
17:70:2karramnāWe have honored
17:70:3banī(the) children of Adam
17:70:5waḥamalnāhumand We carried them
17:70:7ₐlbarrⁱthe land
17:70:8waₐlbaḥrⁱand the sea,
17:70:9warazaqnāhumand We have provided them
17:70:11ₐlṭṭayyibātⁱthe good things
17:70:12wafaḍḍalnāhumand We preferred them
17:70:14kaθīrⁱⁿmany
17:70:15mmimmanof those whom
17:70:16ḫalaqnāWe have created
17:70:17tafḍīlaⁿ(with) preference.
۝٧٠
And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference.
17:71:1yawmᵃ(The) Day
17:71:2nadʕūWe will call
17:71:4ʾunāsⁱⁿhuman beings
17:71:5biʾimāmihimwith their record,
17:71:6famanthen whoever
17:71:7ʾūtīᵃis given
17:71:8kitābahuhis record
17:71:9biyamīnihiin his right hand,
17:71:10faʾulāʾikᵃthen those
17:71:11yaqraʾūnᵃwill read
17:71:12kitābahumtheir records,
17:71:13walāand not
17:71:14yuẓlamūnᵃthey will be wronged
17:71:15fatīlaⁿ(even as much as) a hair on a date seed.
۝٧١
[Mention, O Muhammad], the Day We will call forth every people with their record [of deeds]. Then whoever is given his record in his right hand - those will read their records, and injustice will not be done to them, [even] as much as a thread [inside the date seed].
17:72:1wamanAnd whoever
17:72:4hāðihithis (world)
17:72:6fahuwᵃthen he
17:72:8ₐlʾāḫiraẗⁱthe Hereafter
17:72:9ʾaʕmā(will be) blind,
17:72:10waʾaḍallᵘand more astray
17:72:11sabīlaⁿ(from the) path.
۝٧٢
And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way.
17:73:1waʾinAnd indeed,
17:73:2kādūthey were about (to)
17:73:3layaftinūnakᵃtempt you away
17:73:4ʕanⁱfrom
17:73:5ₐllaðīthat which
17:73:6ʾawḥaynāWe revealed,
17:73:7ʾilaykᵃto you
17:73:8litaftarīᵃthat you invent
17:73:9ʕalaynāabout Us
17:73:10ġayrahuother (than) it.
17:73:11waʾiðaⁿAnd then
17:73:12llaᵢttaḫaðūkᵃsurely they would take you
17:73:13ḫalīlaⁿ(as) a friend.
۝٧٣
And indeed, they were about to tempt you away from that which We revealed to you in order to [make] you invent about Us something else; and then they would have taken you as a friend.
17:74:1walawlāAnd if not
17:74:2ʾan[that]
17:74:3θabbatnākᵃWe (had) strengthened you,
17:74:4laqadcertainly,
17:74:5kidttᵃyou almost
17:74:6tarkanᵘ(would) have inclined
17:74:8šayʾaⁿ(in) something
17:74:9qalīlaⁿa little.
۝٧٤
And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.
17:75:1ʾiðaⁿThen
17:75:2llaʾaðaqnākᵃWe (would) have made you taste
17:75:3ḍiʕfᵃdouble
17:75:4ₐlḥayawẗⁱ(in) the life,
17:75:5waḍiʕfᵃand double
17:75:6ₐlmamātⁱ(after) the death.
17:75:7θummᵃThen
17:75:9tajidᵘyou (would) have found
17:75:10lakᵃfor you
17:75:11ʕalaynāagainst Us
17:75:12naṣīraⁿany helper.
۝٧٥
Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [punishment in] life and double [after] death. Then you would not find for yourself against Us a helper.
17:76:1waʾinAnd indeed,
17:76:2kādūthey were about
17:76:3layastafizzūnakᵃ(to) scare you
17:76:4minᵃfrom
17:76:5ₐlʾarḍⁱthe land,
17:76:6liyuḫrijūkᵃthat they evict you
17:76:7minhāfrom it.
17:76:8waʾiðaⁿBut then
17:76:10yalbaθūnᵃthey (would) have stayed
17:76:11ḫilāfakᵃafter you
17:76:13qalīlaⁿa little.
۝٧٦
And indeed, they were about to drive you from the land to evict you therefrom. And then [when they do], they will not remain [there] after you, except for a little.
17:77:1sunnaẗᵃ(Such is Our) Way
17:77:2man(for) whom
17:77:3qad[verily]
17:77:5qablakᵃbefore you
17:77:7rrusulināOur Messengers.
17:77:8walāAnd not
17:77:9tajidᵘyou will find
17:77:10lisunnatinā(in) Our way
17:77:11taḥwīlaⁿany alteration.
۝٧٧
[That is Our] established way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find in Our way any alteration.
17:78:1ʾaqimⁱEstablish
17:78:2ₐlṣṣalawẗᵃthe prayer,
17:78:3lidulūkⁱat the decline
17:78:4ₐlššamsⁱ(of) the sun
17:78:6ġasaqⁱ(the) darkness
17:78:7ₐllaylⁱ(of) the night
17:78:8waqurʾānᵃand Quran
17:78:9ₐlfajrⁱat dawn,
17:78:10ʾinnᵃindeed,
17:78:11qurʾānᵃthe Quran
17:78:12ₐlfajrⁱ(at) the dawn
17:78:14mašhūdaⁿever witnessed.
۝٧٨
Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed.
17:79:1waminᵃAnd from
17:79:2ₐllaylⁱthe night
17:79:3fatahajjadarise from sleep for prayer
17:79:5nāfilaẗᵃⁿ(as) additional
17:79:6llakᵃfor you;
17:79:7ʕasāit may be
17:79:9yabʕaθakᵃwill raise you
17:79:10rabbukᵃyour Lord
17:79:11maqāmaⁿ(to) a station
17:79:12mmaḥmūdaⁿpraiseworthy.
۝٧٩
And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station.
17:80:1waqulAnd say,
17:80:2rrabbⁱ"My Lord!
17:80:3ʾadḫilnīCause me to enter
17:80:4mudḫalᵃan entrance
17:80:5ṣidqⁱⁿsound,
17:80:6waʾaḫrijnīand cause me to exit
17:80:7muḫrajᵃan exit
17:80:8ṣidqⁱⁿsound
17:80:9waᵢjʕaland make
17:80:12lladunkᵃnear You
17:80:13sulṭānaⁿan authority
17:80:14nnaṣīraⁿhelping."
۝٨٠
And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority."
17:81:1waqulAnd say,
17:81:2jāʾᵃ"Has come
17:81:3ₐlḥaqqᵘthe truth
17:81:4wazahaqᵃand perished
17:81:5ₐlbāṭilᵘthe falsehood.
17:81:6ʾinnᵃIndeed,
17:81:7ₐlbāṭilᵃthe falsehood
17:81:9zahūqaⁿ(bound) to perish."
۝٨١
And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart."
17:82:1wanunazzilᵘAnd We reveal
17:82:2minᵃfrom
17:82:3ₐlqurʾānⁱthe Quran
17:82:6šifāʾᵘⁿ(is) a healing
17:82:7waraḥmaẗᵘⁿand a mercy
17:82:8llilmuʾminīnᵃfor the believers,
17:82:9walābut not
17:82:10yazīdᵘit increases
17:82:11ₐlẓẓālimīnᵃthe wrongdoers
17:82:13ḫasāraⁿ(in) loss.
۝٨٢
And We send down of the Qur'an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss.
17:83:1waʾiðāAnd when
17:83:2ʾanʕamnāWe bestow favor
17:83:5ʾaʕraḍᵃhe turns away
17:83:6wanaʾāand becomes remote
17:83:7bijānibihion his side.
17:83:8waʾiðāAnd when
17:83:9massahᵘtouches him
17:83:10ₐlššarrᵘthe evil
17:83:11kānᵃhe is
17:83:12yaʾūsaⁿ(in) despair.
۝٨٣
And when We bestow favor upon the disbeliever, he turns away and distances himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing.
17:84:2kullᵘⁿ"Each
17:84:5šākilatihihis manner,
17:84:6farabbukumbut your Lord
17:84:7ʾaʕlamᵘ(is) most knowing
17:84:9huwᵃ[he]
17:84:10ʾahdā(is) best guided
17:84:11sabīlaⁿ(in) way."
۝٨٤
Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way."
17:85:1wayasʾalūnakᵃAnd they ask you
17:85:2ʕanⁱconcerning
17:85:3ₐlrrūḥⁱthe soul.
17:85:4qulⁱSay,
17:85:5ₐlrrūḥᵘ"The soul
17:85:6min(is) of
17:85:7ʾamrⁱ(the) affair
17:85:8rabbī(of) my Lord.
17:85:10ʾūtītumyou have been given
17:85:12ₐlʕilmⁱthe knowledge
17:85:14qalīlaⁿa little."
۝٨٥
And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little."
17:86:1walaʾinAnd if
17:86:2šiʾnāWe willed,
17:86:3lanaðhabannᵃWe (would) have surely taken away
17:86:4biₐllaðīthat which
17:86:5ʾawḥaynāWe have revealed
17:86:6ʾilaykᵃto you.
17:86:7θummᵃThen
17:86:9tajidᵘyou would find
17:86:10lakᵃfor you
17:86:11bihiconcerning it
17:86:12ʕalaynāagainst Us
17:86:13wakīlaⁿany advocate,
۝٨٦
And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us.
17:87:1ʾillāExcept
17:87:2raḥmaẗᵃⁿa mercy
17:87:4rrabbikᵃyour Lord.
17:87:5ʾinnᵃIndeed,
17:87:6faḍlahuHis Bounty
17:87:8ʕalaykᵃupon you
17:87:9kabīraⁿgreat.
۝٨٧
Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great.
17:88:3ᵢjtamaʕatⁱgathered
17:88:4ₐlʾinsᵘthe mankind
17:88:5waₐljinnᵘand the jinn
17:88:7ʾan[that]
17:88:9bimiθlⁱthe like
17:88:10hāðā(of) this
17:88:13yaʾtūnᵃthey (could) bring
17:88:14bimiθlihithe like of it,
17:88:17baʕḍuhumsome of them
17:88:18libaʕḍⁱⁿto some others
17:88:19ẓahīraⁿassistants."
۝٨٨
Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants."
17:89:1walaqadAnd verily
17:89:2ṣarrafnāWe have explained
17:89:3lilnnāsⁱto mankind
17:89:8kullⁱevery
17:89:9maθalⁱⁿexample,
17:89:10faʾabābut refused
17:89:12ₐlnnāsⁱ(of) the mankind
17:89:14kufūraⁿdisbelief.
۝٨٩
And We have certainly diversified for the people in this Qur'an from every [kind] of example, but most of the people refused [anything] except disbelief.
17:90:1waqālūAnd they say,
17:90:2lan"Never
17:90:3nnuʾminᵃwe will believe
17:90:4lakᵃin you
17:90:6tafjurᵃyou cause to gush forth
17:90:8minᵃfrom
17:90:9ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth
17:90:10yanᵐbūʕaⁿa spring.
۝٩٠
And they say, "We will not believe you until you break open for us from the ground a spring.
17:91:2takūnᵃyou have
17:91:3lakᵃfor you
17:91:4jannaẗᵘⁿa garden
17:91:6nnaḫīlⁱⁿdate-palms
17:91:7waʕinabⁱⁿand grapes,
17:91:8fatufajjirᵃand cause to gush forth
17:91:9ₐlʾanhārᵃthe rivers
17:91:10ḫilālahāwithin them
17:91:11tafjīraⁿabundantly.
۝٩١
Or [until] you have a garden of palm tress and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance]
17:92:2tusqiṭᵃyou cause to fall
17:92:3ₐlssamāʾᵃthe sky,
17:92:5zaʕamtᵃyou have claimed,
17:92:7kisafaⁿ(in) pieces
17:92:9taʾtīᵃyou bring
17:92:11waₐlmalāʾikaẗⁱand the Angels
17:92:12qabīlaⁿbefore (us).
۝٩٢
Or you make the heaven fall upon us in fragments as you have claimed or you bring Allah and the angels before [us]
17:93:3lakᵃfor you
17:93:4baytᵘⁿa house
17:93:6zuḫrufⁱⁿornament
17:93:8tarqāyou ascend
17:93:10ₐlssamāʾⁱthe sky.
17:93:11walanAnd never
17:93:12nnuʾminᵃwe will believe
17:93:13liruqiyyikᵃin your ascension
17:93:15tunazzilᵃyou bring down
17:93:17kitābaⁿa book
17:93:18nnaqraʾuhuwe could read it."
17:93:20subḥānᵃ"Glorified (is)
17:93:21rabbīmy Lord!
17:93:25bašaraⁿa human,
17:93:26rrasūlaⁿa Messenger."
۝٩٣
Or you have a house of gold or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger?"
17:94:1wamāAnd what
17:94:2manaʕᵃprevented
17:94:3ₐlnnāsᵃthe people
17:94:5yuʾminūthey believe
17:94:7jāʾahumᵘcame to them
17:94:8ₐlhudāthe guidance
17:94:12ʾabaʕaθᵃ"Has Allah sent
17:94:14bašaraⁿa human
17:94:15rrasūlaⁿMessenger?"
۝٩٤
And what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has Allah sent a human messenger?"
17:95:3kānᵃ(there) were
17:95:5ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth
17:95:6malāʾikaẗᵘⁿAngels
17:95:7yamšūnᵃwalking
17:95:8muṭmaʾinnīnᵃsecurely,
17:95:9lanazzalnāsurely We (would) have sent down
17:95:12ₐlssamāʾⁱthe heaven
17:95:13malakaⁿan Angel
17:95:14rrasūlaⁿ(as) a Messenger."
۝٩٥
Say, "If there were upon the earth angels walking securely, We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel [as a] messenger."
17:96:2kafā"Sufficient is
17:96:3biₐllahⁱAllah
17:96:4šahīdᵃⁿᵐā(as) a witness
17:96:5baynībetween me
17:96:6wabaynakumand between you.
17:96:7ʾinnahuIndeed, He
17:96:9biʕibādihiof His slaves
17:96:10ḫabīrᵃⁿᵐāAll-Aware,
17:96:11baṣīraⁿAll-Seer."
۝٩٦
Say, "Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you. Indeed he is ever, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing."
17:97:1wamanAnd whoever
17:97:2yahdⁱAllah guides
17:97:4fahuwᵃthen he (is)
17:97:5ₐlmuhtadⁱthe guided one;
17:97:6wamanand whoever
17:97:7yuḍlilHe lets go astray -
17:97:8falanthen never
17:97:9tajidᵃyou will find
17:97:11ʾawliyāʾᵃprotectors
17:97:12minbesides Him.
17:97:14wanaḥšuruhumAnd We will gather them
17:97:15yawmᵃ(on) the Day
17:97:16ₐlqiyāmaẗⁱ(of) the Resurrection
17:97:18wujūhihimtheir faces -
17:97:20wabukmaⁿand dumb
17:97:21waṣummaⁿand deaf.
17:97:23jahannamᵘ(is) Hell;
17:97:24kullamāevery time
17:97:25ḫabatit subsides,
17:97:26zidnāhumWe (will) increase (for) them
17:97:27saʕīraⁿthe blazing fire.
۝٩٧
And whoever Allah guides - he is the [rightly] guided; and whoever He sends astray - you will never find for them protectors besides Him, and We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection [fallen] on their faces - blind, dumb and deaf. Their refuge is Hell; every time it subsides We increase them in blazing fire.
17:98:1ðālikᵃThat
17:98:2jazāʾuhum(is) their recompense
17:98:3biʾannahumbecause they
17:98:4kafarūdisbelieved
17:98:5biʾāyātināin Our Verses
17:98:7ʾaʾiðā"When
17:98:9ʕiẓāmaⁿbones
17:98:10warufātaⁿand crumbled particles,
17:98:11ʾaʾinnāwill we
17:98:12lamabʕūθūnᵃsurely (be) resurrected
17:98:13ḫalqaⁿ(as) a creation
۝٩٨
That is their recompense because they disbelieved in Our verses and said, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected [in] a new creation?"
