۞
4:24:1waₐlmuḥṣanātᵘAnd (prohibited are) the ones who are married
4:24:3ₐlnnisāʾⁱthe women
4:24:4ʾillāexcept
4:24:6malakatyou possess
4:24:7ʾaymānukumrightfully.
4:24:8kitābᵃDecree
4:24:9ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
4:24:10ʕalaykumupon you.
4:24:11waʾuḥillᵃAnd are lawful
4:24:14warāʾᵃ(is) beyond
4:24:18biʾamwālikumwith your wealth
4:24:19mmuḥṣinīnᵃdesiring to be chaste
4:24:21musāfiḥīnᵃ(to be) lustful.
4:24:22famāSo what
4:24:23ᵢstamtaʕtumyou benefit[ed]
4:24:25minhunnᵃfrom them,
4:24:26faʾātūhunnᵃso you give them
4:24:27ʾujūrahunnᵃtheir bridal due
4:24:28farīḍaẗᵃⁿ(as) an obligation.
4:24:29walāAnd (there is) no
4:24:30junāḥᵃsin
4:24:32fīmāconcerning what
4:24:33tarāḍaytumyou mutually agree
4:24:35minᵐfrom
4:24:36baʕdⁱbeyond
4:24:37ₐlfarīḍaẗⁱthe obligation.
4:24:38ʾinnᵃIndeed,
4:24:39ₐllahᵃAllah
4:24:41ʕalīmaⁿAll-Knowing,
4:24:42ḥakīmaⁿAll-Wise.
۝٢٤
And [also prohibited to you are all] married women except those your right hands possess. [This is] the decree of Allah upon you. And lawful to you are [all others] beyond these, [provided] that you seek them [in marriage] with [gifts from] your property, desiring chastity, not unlawful sexual intercourse. So for whatever you enjoy [of marriage] from them, give them their due compensation as an obligation. And there is no blame upon you for what you mutually agree to beyond the obligation. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Wise.
4:25:1wamanAnd whoever
4:25:2llam(is) not
4:25:3yastaṭiʕable to
4:25:4minkumamong you
4:25:5ṭawlaⁿafford
4:25:7yankiḥᵃmarry
4:25:8ₐlmuḥṣanātⁱthe free chaste
4:25:9ₐlmuʾminātⁱ[the] believing women
4:25:10faminthen (marry) from
4:25:12malakatpossess[ed]
4:25:13ʾaymānukumyour right hands
4:25:15fatayātikumᵘyour slave girls -
4:25:16ₐlmuʾminātⁱ(of) the believers.
4:25:17waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
4:25:18ʾaʕlamᵘknows best
4:25:19biʾīmānikumabout your faith.
4:25:21mminᵐ(are) from
4:25:22baʕḍⁱⁿ(one) another.
4:25:23faᵢnkiḥūhunnᵃSo marry them
4:25:24biʾiðnⁱwith (the) permission
4:25:25ʾahlihinnᵃ(of) their family
4:25:26waʾātūhunnᵃand give them
4:25:27ʾujūrahunnᵃtheir bridal due
4:25:28biₐlmaʕrūfⁱin a fair manner.
4:25:29muḥṣanātⁱⁿ(They should be) chaste
4:25:31musāfiḥātⁱⁿthose who commit immorality
4:25:32walāand not
4:25:33muttaḫiðātⁱthose who take
4:25:34ʾaḫdānⁱⁿsecret lovers.
4:25:35faʾiðāThen when
4:25:36ʾuḥṣinnᵃthey are married
4:25:38ʾataynᵃthey commit
4:25:39bifāḥišaẗⁱⁿadultery
4:25:40faʕalayhinnᵃthen for them
4:25:41niṣfᵘ(is) half
4:25:42(of) what
4:25:43ʕalā(is) on
4:25:44ₐlmuḥṣanātⁱthe free chaste women
4:25:46ₐlʕaðābⁱthe punishment.
4:25:47ðālikᵃThat
4:25:48liman(is) for whoever
4:25:49ḫašīᵃfears
4:25:50ₐlʕanatᵃcommitting sin
4:25:51minkumamong you
4:25:52waʾanand that
4:25:53taṣbirūyou be patient
4:25:54ḫayrᵘⁿ(is) better
4:25:55llakumfor you.
4:25:56waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
4:25:57ġafūrᵘⁿ(is) Oft-Forgiving,
4:25:58rraḥīmᵘⁿMost Merciful.
۝٢٥
And whoever among you cannot [find] the means to marry free, believing women, then [he may marry] from those whom your right hands possess of believing slave girls. And Allah is most knowing about your faith. You [believers] are of one another. So marry them with the permission of their people and give them their due compensation according to what is acceptable. [They should be] chaste, neither [of] those who commit unlawful intercourse randomly nor those who take [secret] lovers. But once they are sheltered in marriage, if they should commit adultery, then for them is half the punishment for free [unmarried] women. This [allowance] is for him among you who fears sin, but to be patient is better for you. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
4:26:1yurīdᵘWishes
4:26:2ₐllahᵘAllah
4:26:3liyubayyinᵃto make clear
4:26:5wayahdiyakumand to guide you
4:26:6sunanᵃ(to) ways
4:26:7ₐllaðīnᵃ(of) those
4:26:9qablikumbefore you
4:26:10wayatūbᵃand (to) accept repentance
4:26:11ʕalaykumfrom you.
4:26:12waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
4:26:13ʕalīmᵘⁿ(is) All-Knowing,
4:26:14ḥakīmᵘⁿAll-Wise.
۝٢٦
Allah wants to make clear to you [the lawful from the unlawful] and guide you to the [good] practices of those before you and to accept your repentance. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.
4:27:1waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
4:27:2yurīdᵘwishes
4:27:4yatūbᵃaccept repentance
4:27:5ʕalaykumfrom you,
4:27:6wayurīdᵘbut wish
4:27:7ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
4:27:8yattabiʕūnᵃfollow
4:27:9ₐlššahawātⁱthe passions
4:27:11tamīlūyou deviate -
4:27:12maylaⁿ(into) a deviation
4:27:13ʕaẓīmaⁿgreat.
۝٢٧
Allah wants to accept your repentance, but those who follow [their] passions want you to digress [into] a great deviation.
4:28:1yurīdᵘWishes
4:28:2ₐllahᵘAllah
4:28:4yuḫaffifᵃlighten
4:28:5ʕankumfor you;
4:28:6waḫuliqᵃand was created
4:28:7ₐlʾinsānᵘthe mankind
4:28:8ḍaʕīfaⁿweak.
۝٢٨
And Allah wants to lighten for you [your difficulties]; and mankind was created weak.
4:29:2ₐllaðīnᵃwho
4:29:3ʾāmanūbelieve[d]!
4:29:4(Do) not
4:29:6ʾamwālakumyour wealth
4:29:7baynakumbetween yourselves
4:29:8biₐlbāṭilⁱunjustly.
4:29:11takūnᵃ(there) be
4:29:12tijāraẗᵃⁿbusiness
4:29:14tarāḍⁱⁿmutual consent
4:29:15mminkumamong you.
4:29:16walāAnd (do) not
4:29:18ʾanfusakumyourselves.
4:29:19ʾinnᵃIndeed,
4:29:20ₐllahᵃAllah
4:29:23raḥīmaⁿMost Merciful.
۝٢٩
O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.
4:30:1wamanAnd whoever
4:30:3ðālikᵃthat
4:30:4ʕudwānaⁿ(in) aggression
4:30:5waẓulmaⁿand injustice,
4:30:6fasawfᵃthen soon
4:30:7nuṣlīhⁱWe (will) cast him
4:30:8nāraⁿ(into) a Fire.
4:30:9wakānᵃAnd is
4:30:10ðālikᵃthat
4:30:12ₐllahⁱAllah
۝٣٠
And whoever does that in aggression and injustice - then We will drive him into a Fire. And that, for Allah, is [always] easy.
4:31:3kabāʾirᵃgreat (sins)
4:31:4(of) what
4:31:5tunhawnᵃyou are forbidden
4:31:6ʕanhᵘfrom [it],
4:31:7nukaffirWe will remove
4:31:8ʕankumfrom you
4:31:9sayyiʾātikumyour evil deeds
4:31:10wanudḫilkumand We will admit you
4:31:11mmudḫalaⁿ(to) an entrance
4:31:12karīmaⁿnoble.
۝٣١
If you avoid the major sins which you are forbidden, We will remove from you your lesser sins and admit you to a noble entrance [into Paradise].
4:32:1walāAnd (do) not
4:32:4faḍḍalᵃ(has) bestowed
4:32:5ₐllahᵘAllah
4:32:6bihi[with it]
4:32:7baʕḍakumsome of you
4:32:9baʕḍⁱⁿothers.
4:32:10llilrrijālⁱFor men
4:32:11naṣībᵘⁿ(is) a share
4:32:12mmimmāof what
4:32:13ᵢktasabūthey earned,
4:32:14walilnnisāʾⁱand for women
4:32:15naṣībᵘⁿ(is) a share
4:32:16mmimmāof what
4:32:17ᵢktasabnᵃthey earned.
4:32:19ₐllahᵃAllah
4:32:21faḍlihiHis bounty.
4:32:22ʾinnᵃIndeed,
4:32:23ₐllahᵃAllah
4:32:25bikullⁱof every
4:32:26šayʾⁱⁿthing
4:32:27ʕalīmaⁿAll-Knower.
۝٣٢
And do not wish for that by which Allah has made some of you exceed others. For men is a share of what they have earned, and for women is a share of what they have earned. And ask Allah of his bounty. Indeed Allah is ever, of all things, Knowing.
4:33:1walikullⁱⁿAnd for all
4:33:2jaʕalnāWe (have) made
4:33:3mawālīᵃheirs
4:33:4mimmāof what
4:33:5tarakᵃ(is) left
4:33:6ₐlwālidānⁱ(by) the parents
4:33:7waₐlʾaqrabūnᵃand the relatives.
4:33:8waₐllaðīnᵃAnd those whom
4:33:9ʕaqadatpledged
4:33:10ʾaymānukumyour right hands -
4:33:11faʾātūhumthen give them
4:33:12naṣībahumtheir share.
4:33:13ʾinnᵃIndeed,
4:33:14ₐllahᵃAllah
4:33:17kullⁱevery
4:33:18šayʾⁱⁿthing
4:33:19šahīdaⁿa Witness.
۝٣٣
And for all, We have made heirs to what is left by parents and relatives. And to those whom your oaths have bound [to you] - give them their share. Indeed Allah is ever, over all things, a Witness.
4:34:1ₐlrrijālᵘ[The] men
4:34:2qawwāmūnᵃ(are) protectors
4:34:4ₐlnnisāʾⁱthe women
4:34:5bimābecause
4:34:6faḍḍalᵃ(has) bestowed
4:34:7ₐllahᵘAllah
4:34:8baʕḍahumsome of them
4:34:10baʕḍⁱⁿothers
4:34:11wabimāand because
4:34:12ʾanfaqūthey spend
4:34:14ʾamwālihimtheir wealth.
4:34:15faₐlṣṣāliḥātᵘSo the righteous women
4:34:16qānitātᵘⁿ(are) obedient,
4:34:17ḥāfiẓātᵘⁿguarding
4:34:18llilġaybⁱin the unseen
4:34:19bimāthat which
4:34:20ḥafiẓᵃ(orders) them to guard
4:34:21ₐllahᵘ(by) Allah.
4:34:22waₐllātīAnd those (from) whom
4:34:23taḫāfūnᵃyou fear
4:34:24nušūzahunnᵃtheir ill-conduct
4:34:25faʕiẓūhunnᵃthen advise them,
4:34:26waᵤhjurūhunnᵃand forsake them
4:34:28ₐlmaḍājiʕⁱthe bed
4:34:29waᵢḍribūhunnᵃand [finally] strike them.
4:34:30faʾinThen if
4:34:31ʾaṭaʕnakumthey obey you
4:34:32falāthen (do) not
4:34:34ʕalayhinnᵃagainst them
4:34:35sabīlaⁿa way.
4:34:36ʾinnᵃIndeed,
4:34:37ₐllahᵃAllah
4:34:39ʕaliyyaⁿMost High,
4:34:40kabīraⁿMost Great.
۝٣٤
Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given one over the other and what they spend [for maintenance] from their wealth. So righteous women are devoutly obedient, guarding in [the husband's] absence what Allah would have them guard. But those [wives] from whom you fear arrogance - [first] advise them; [then if they persist], forsake them in bed; and [finally], strike them. But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.
4:35:1waʾinAnd if
4:35:2ḫiftumyou fear
4:35:3šiqāqᵃa dissension
4:35:4baynihimābetween (the) two of them,
4:35:5faᵢbʕaθūthen send
4:35:6ḥakamaⁿan arbitrator
4:35:8ʾahlihihis family
4:35:9waḥakamaⁿand an arbitrator
4:35:11ʾahlihāher family.
4:35:13yurīdāthey both wish
4:35:14ʾiṣlāḥaⁿreconciliation,
4:35:15yuwaffiqⁱwill cause reconciliation
4:35:16ₐllahᵘAllah
4:35:17baynahumābetween both of them.
4:35:18ʾinnᵃIndeed,
4:35:19ₐllahᵃAllah
4:35:21ʕalīmaⁿAll-Knower,
4:35:22ḫabīraⁿAll-Aware.
۝٣٥
And if you fear dissension between the two, send an arbitrator from his people and an arbitrator from her people. If they both desire reconciliation, Allah will cause it between them. Indeed, Allah is ever Knowing and Acquainted [with all things].
