2:203:1waᵤðkurūAnd remember
2:203:2ₐllahᵃAllah
2:203:4ʾayyāmⁱⁿdays
2:203:5mmaʕdūdātⁱⁿnumbered.
2:203:6famanThen (he) who
2:203:7taʕajjalᵃhurries
2:203:9yawmaynⁱtwo days
2:203:12ʕalayhⁱupon him,
2:203:13wamanand whoever
2:203:14taʾaḫḫarᵃdelays
2:203:17ʕalayhⁱupon him
2:203:18limanⁱfor (the one) who
2:203:21ₐllahᵃAllah
2:203:24ʾilayhⁱunto Him
2:203:25tuḥšarūnᵃwill be gathered.
۝٢٠٣
And remember Allah during [specific] numbered days. Then whoever hastens [his departure] in two days - there is no sin upon him; and whoever delays [until the third] - there is no sin upon him - for him who fears Allah. And fear Allah and know that unto Him you will be gathered.
2:204:1waminᵃAnd of
2:204:2ₐlnnāsⁱthe people
2:204:3man(is the one) who
2:204:4yuʕjibukᵃpleases you
2:204:5qawluhu(with) his speech
2:204:7ₐlḥayawẗⁱthe life
2:204:8ₐlddunyā(of) the world,
2:204:9wayušhidᵘand he calls to witness
2:204:10ₐllahᵃAllah
2:204:13(is) in
2:204:15wahuwᵃand he
2:204:16ʾaladdᵘ(is) the most quarrelsome
2:204:17ₐlḫiṣāmⁱ(of) opponents.
۝٢٠٤
And of the people is he whose speech pleases you in worldly life, and he calls Allah to witness as to what is in his heart, yet he is the fiercest of opponents.
2:205:1waʾiðāAnd when
2:205:2tawallāhe turns away
2:205:3saʕāhe strives
2:205:5ₐlʾarḍⁱthe earth
2:205:6liyufsidᵃto spread corruption
2:205:7fīhā[in it],
2:205:8wayuhlikᵃand destroys
2:205:9ₐlḥarθᵃthe crops
2:205:10waₐlnnaslᵃand progeny.
2:205:11waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
2:205:12(does) not
2:205:13yuḥibbᵘlove
2:205:14ₐlfasādᵃ[the] corruption.
۝٢٠٥
And when he goes away, he strives throughout the land to cause corruption therein and destroy crops and animals. And Allah does not like corruption.
2:206:1waʾiðāAnd when
2:206:2qīlᵃit is said
2:206:3lahᵘto him
2:206:4ᵢttaqⁱ"Fear
2:206:5ₐllahᵃAllah,"
2:206:6ʾaḫaðathᵘtakes him
2:206:7ₐlʕizzaẗᵘ(his) pride
2:206:8biₐlʾiθmⁱto [the] sins.
2:206:9faḥasbuhuThen enough for him
2:206:10jahannamᵘ(is) Hell -
2:206:11walabiʾsᵃ[and] surely an evil
2:206:12ₐlmihādᵘ[the] resting-place.
۝٢٠٦
And when it is said to him, "Fear Allah," pride in the sin takes hold of him. Sufficient for him is Hellfire, and how wretched is the resting place.
2:207:1waminᵃAnd of
2:207:2ₐlnnāsⁱthe people
2:207:3man(is the one) who
2:207:5nafsahᵘhis own self
2:207:6ᵢbtiġāʾᵃseeking
2:207:7marḍātⁱpleasure
2:207:8ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah.
2:207:9waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
2:207:10raʾūfᵘⁿᵐ(is) full of Kindness
2:207:11biₐlʕibādⁱto His servants.
۝٢٠٧
And of the people is he who sells himself, seeking means to the approval of Allah. And Allah is kind to [His] servants.
2:208:2ₐllaðīnᵃwho
2:208:3ʾāmanūbelieve[d]!
2:208:6ₐlssilmⁱIslam
2:208:7kāffaẗᵃⁿcompletely,
2:208:8walāand (do) not
2:208:10ḫuṭuwātⁱfootsteps
2:208:11ₐlššayṭānⁱ(of) the Shaitaan.
2:208:12ʾinnahuIndeed, he
2:208:13lakum(is) for you
2:208:14ʕaduwwᵘⁿan enemy
2:208:15mmubīnᵘⁿopen.
۝٢٠٨
O you who have believed, enter into Islam completely [and perfectly] and do not follow the footsteps of Satan. Indeed, he is to you a clear enemy.
2:209:1faʾinThen if
2:209:4baʕdⁱafter
2:209:5[what]
2:209:6jāʾatkumᵘcame to you
2:209:7ₐlbayyinātᵘ(from) the clear proofs,
2:209:9ʾannᵃthat
2:209:10ₐllahᵃAllah
2:209:11ʕazīzᵘⁿ(is) All-Mighty,
2:209:12ḥakīmᵘⁿAll-Wise.
۝٢٠٩
But if you deviate after clear proofs have come to you, then know that Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise.
2:210:2yanẓurūnᵃthey waiting
2:210:3ʾillā[except]
2:210:5yaʾtiyahumᵘcomes to them
2:210:6ₐllahᵘAllah
2:210:8ẓulalⁱⁿ(the) shadows
2:210:10ₐlġamāmⁱ[the] clouds,
2:210:11waₐlmalāʾikaẗᵘand the Angels,
2:210:12waquḍīᵃand is decreed
2:210:13ₐlʾamrᵘthe matter?
2:210:15ₐllahⁱAllah
2:210:16turjaʕᵘreturn
2:210:17ₐlʾumūrᵘ(all) the matters.
۝٢١٠
Do they await but that Allah should come to them in covers of clouds and the angels [as well] and the matter is [then] decided? And to Allah [all] matters are returned.
2:211:2banī(the) Children
2:211:3ʾisrāʾīlᵃ(of) Israel,
2:211:4kamhow many
2:211:5ʾātaynāhumWe gave them
2:211:7ʾāyaẗⁱⁿ(the) Sign(s)
2:211:8bayyinaẗⁱⁿclear.
2:211:9wamanAnd whoever
2:211:11niʕmaẗᵃFavor
2:211:12ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
2:211:16jāʾathᵘit (has) come to him -
2:211:17faʾinnᵃthen indeed,
2:211:18ₐllahᵃAllah
2:211:19šadīdᵘ(is) severe
2:211:20ₐlʕiqābⁱin [the] chastising.
۝٢١١
Ask the Children of Israel how many a sign of evidence We have given them. And whoever exchanges the favor of Allah [for disbelief] after it has come to him - then indeed, Allah is severe in penalty.
2:212:1zuyyinᵃBeautified
2:212:2lillaðīnᵃfor those who
2:212:3kafarūdisbelieve[d]
2:212:4ₐlḥayawẗᵘ(is) the life
2:212:5ₐlddunyā(of) the world,
2:212:6wayasḫarūnᵃand they ridicule
2:212:7minᵃ[of]
2:212:8ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
2:212:9ʾāmanūbelieve[d].
2:212:10waₐllaðīnᵃAnd those who
2:212:11ᵢttaqawfear (Allah),
2:212:12fawqahum(they will be) above them
2:212:13yawmᵃ(on the) Day
2:212:14ₐlqiyāmaẗⁱ(of) Resurrection.
2:212:15waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
2:212:16yarzuqᵘprovides
2:212:18yašāʾᵘHe wills
2:212:19biġayrⁱwithout
2:212:20ḥisābⁱⁿmeasure.
۝٢١٢
Beautified for those who disbelieve is the life of this world, and they ridicule those who believe. But those who fear Allah are above them on the Day of Resurrection. And Allah gives provision to whom He wills without account.
2:213:2ₐlnnāsᵘmankind
2:213:3ʾummaẗᵃⁿa community
2:213:4wāḥidaẗᵃⁿsingle,
2:213:5fabaʕaθᵃthen raised up
2:213:6ₐllahᵘAllah
2:213:7ₐlnnabiyyinᵃ[the] Prophets
2:213:8mubašširīnᵃ(as) bearers of glad tidings
2:213:9wamunðirīnᵃand (as) warners,
2:213:10waʾanzalᵃand sent down
2:213:11maʕahumᵘwith them
2:213:12ₐlkitābᵃthe Book
2:213:13biₐlḥaqqⁱin [the] truth
2:213:14liyaḥkumᵃto judge
2:213:15baynᵃbetween
2:213:16ₐlnnāsⁱ[the] people
2:213:18ᵢḫtalafūthey differed
2:213:19fīhⁱ[in it].
2:213:20wamāAnd (did) not
2:213:21ᵢḫtalafᵃdiffer[ed]
2:213:22fīhⁱin it
2:213:24ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
2:213:25ʾūtūhᵘwere given it
2:213:29jāʾathumᵘcame to them
2:213:30ₐlbayyinātᵘthe clear proofs,
2:213:31baġyᵃⁿᵐā(out of) jealousy
2:213:32baynahumamong themselves.
2:213:33fahadāAnd guided
2:213:34ₐllahᵘAllah
2:213:35ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
2:213:36ʾāmanūbelieve[d]
2:213:37limāregarding what
2:213:38ᵢḫtalafūthey differed
2:213:39fīhⁱ[in it]
2:213:41ₐlḥaqqⁱthe Truth
2:213:42biʾiðnihiwith His permission.
2:213:43waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
2:213:46yašāʾᵘHe wills
2:213:48ṣirāṭⁱⁿa path
2:213:49mmustaqīmⁱⁿstraight.
۝٢١٣
Mankind was [of] one religion [before their deviation]; then Allah sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed. And none differed over the Scripture except those who were given it - after the clear proofs came to them - out of jealous animosity among themselves. And Allah guided those who believed to the truth concerning that over which they had differed, by His permission. And Allah guides whom He wills to a straight path.
2:214:2ḥasibtum(do) you think
2:214:4tadḫulūyou will enter
2:214:5ₐljannaẗᵃParadise
2:214:6walammāwhile not
2:214:7yaʾtikum(has) come to you
2:214:8mmaθalᵘlike (came to)
2:214:9ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
2:214:10ḫalawpassed away
2:214:12qablikumbefore you?
2:214:13mmassathumᵘTouched them
2:214:14ₐlbaʾsāʾᵘ[the] adversity
2:214:15waₐlḍḍarrāʾᵘand [the] hardship,
2:214:16wazulzilūand they were shaken
2:214:19ₐlrrasūlᵘthe Messenger
2:214:20waₐllaðīnᵃand those who
2:214:22maʕahuwith him,
2:214:24naṣrᵘ[will] (the) help
2:214:25ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah (come)
2:214:26ʾalāUnquestionably,
2:214:27ʾinnᵃ[Indeed]
2:214:29ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah
2:214:30qarībᵘⁿ(is) near.
۝٢١٤
Or do you think that you will enter Paradise while such [trial] has not yet come to you as came to those who passed on before you? They were touched by poverty and hardship and were shaken until [even their] messenger and those who believed with him said, "When is the help of Allah?" Unquestionably, the help of Allah is near.
2:215:1yasʾalūnakᵃThey ask you
2:215:3yunfiqūnᵃthey (should) spend.
2:215:5"Whatever
2:215:6ʾanfaqtumyou spend
2:215:8ḫayrⁱⁿgood,
2:215:9falilwālidaynⁱ(is) for parents,
2:215:10waₐlʾaqrabīnᵃand the relatives,
2:215:11waₐlyatāmāand the orphans,
2:215:12waₐlmasākīnⁱand the needy,
2:215:13waᵢbnⁱand (of)
2:215:14ₐlssabīlⁱthe wayfarer.
2:215:15wamāAnd whatever
2:215:18ḫayrⁱⁿgood.
2:215:19faʾinnᵃSo indeed,
2:215:20ₐllahᵃAllah
2:215:22ʕalīmᵘⁿ(is) All-Aware.
۝٢١٥
They ask you, [O Muhammad], what they should spend. Say, "Whatever you spend of good is [to be] for parents and relatives and orphans and the needy and the traveler. And whatever you do of good - indeed, Allah is Knowing of it."
2:216:1kutibᵃIs prescribed
2:216:2ʕalaykumᵘupon you
2:216:3ₐlqitālᵘ[the] fighting
2:216:4wahuwᵃwhile it
2:216:5kurhᵘⁿ(is) hateful
2:216:7waʕasāBut perhaps
2:216:8ʾan[that]
2:216:10šayʾaⁿa thing
2:216:11wahuwᵃand it
2:216:12ḫayrᵘⁿ(is) good
2:216:14waʕasāand perhaps
2:216:15ʾan[that]
2:216:17šayʾaⁿa thing
2:216:18wahuwᵃand it
2:216:19šarrᵘⁿ(is) bad
2:216:21waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
2:216:23waʾantumwhile you
2:216:24(do) not
۝٢١٦
Fighting has been enjoined upon you while it is hateful to you. But perhaps you hate a thing and it is good for you; and perhaps you love a thing and it is bad for you. And Allah Knows, while you know not.
2:217:1yasʾalūnakᵃThey ask you
2:217:2ʕanⁱabout
2:217:3ₐlššahrⁱthe month
2:217:4ₐlḥarāmⁱ[the] sacred -
2:217:5qitālⁱⁿ(concerning) fighting
2:217:6fīhⁱin it.
2:217:8qitālᵘⁿ"Fighting
2:217:9fīhⁱtherein
2:217:10kabīrᵘⁿ(is) a great (sin);
2:217:11waṣaddᵘⁿbut hindering (people)
2:217:13sabīlⁱ(the) way
2:217:14ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah,
2:217:15wakufrᵘⁿᵐand disbelief
2:217:17waₐlmasjidⁱand (preventing access to) Al-Masjid
2:217:18ₐlḥarāmⁱAl-Haraam,
2:217:19waʾiḫrājᵘand driving out
2:217:20ʾahlihiits people
2:217:21minhᵘfrom it,
2:217:22ʾakbarᵘ(is) greater (sin)
2:217:23ʕindᵃnear
2:217:24ₐllahⁱAllah.
2:217:25waₐlfitnaẗᵘAnd [the] oppression
2:217:26ʾakbarᵘ(is) greater
2:217:28ₐlqatlⁱ[the] killing."
2:217:29walāAnd not
2:217:30yazālūnᵃthey will cease
2:217:31yuqātilūnakum(to) fight with you
2:217:33yaruddūkumthey turn you away
2:217:35dīnikumyour religion,
2:217:37ᵢstaṭāʕūthey are able.
2:217:38wamanAnd whoever
2:217:40minkumamong you
2:217:42dīnihihis religion,
2:217:43fayamutthen dies
2:217:44wahuwᵃwhile he
2:217:45kāfirᵘⁿ(is) a disbeliever
2:217:46faʾulāʾikᵃfor those
2:217:47ḥabiṭatbecame worthless
2:217:48ʾaʕmāluhumtheir deeds
2:217:50ₐlddunyāthe world
2:217:51waₐlʾāḫiraẗⁱand the Hereafter.
2:217:52waʾulāʾikᵃAnd those
2:217:53ʾaṣḥābᵘ(are) companions
2:217:54ₐlnnārⁱ(of) the Fire,
2:217:57ḫālidūnᵃ(will) abide forever.
۝٢١٧
They ask you about the sacred month - about fighting therein. Say, "Fighting therein is great [sin], but averting [people] from the way of Allah and disbelief in Him and [preventing access to] al-Masjid al-Haram and the expulsion of its people therefrom are greater [evil] in the sight of Allah. And fitnah is greater than killing." And they will continue to fight you until they turn you back from your religion if they are able. And whoever of you reverts from his religion [to disbelief] and dies while he is a disbeliever - for those, their deeds have become worthless in this world and the Hereafter, and those are the companions of the Fire, they will abide therein eternally.
2:218:1ʾinnᵃIndeed,
2:218:2ₐllaðīnᵃthose who
2:218:4waₐllaðīnᵃand those who
2:218:8sabīlⁱ(the) way
2:218:9ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah -
2:218:11yarjūnᵃthey hope
2:218:12raḥmatᵃ(for) Mercy
2:218:13ₐllahⁱ(of) Allah.
2:218:14waₐllahᵘAnd Allah
2:218:15ġafūrᵘⁿ(is) Oft-Forgiving,
2:218:16rraḥīmᵘⁿMost Merciful.
۝٢١٨
Indeed, those who have believed and those who have emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah - those expect the mercy of Allah. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful.
